Baby's First Halloween Birthday - Invitations & Decorations

As your baby grows up, Halloween will quickly become one of his or her favorite times of year - this is doubly so with a baby born on or near Halloween. Start the tradition off right with a blow-out Halloween birthday party for year number one!

Go For Spooky Instead of Scary

PARTY DECORATIONS

Of course Halloween is the time for witches and werewolves, ghosts, ghouls and goblins, but it's also a fun time, with trick-or-treating and dressing up. Focus on the fun and cartoonish aspects of the holiday when planning your baby's first Halloween birthday party. Later on, your child can grow into the scarier aspects of the holiday.

Your first step will be selecting Halloween birthday party invitations. Make sure to choose a company that uses top quality, 80lb. white linen paper, and if recycled paper is a priority for you, ask if they can make substitutions. Find out turnaround time and what the procedure is for providing you proofs, so you can check accuracy.

As for design, you'll need to decide if you want the emphasis to be more on the Halloween aspects of the party, or if the focus is on baby's first birthday party with a Halloween theme. That will help you narrow down your design choices. Your best bet is to find a company or printer that lets you customize much of the invitation; then you can find just the right balance between birthday invitations and Halloween party invitations.

Beyond Orange & Black

Yes, you'll have orange and black streamers, possibly cobwebs and goofy rubber spiders, and some bowls of water with dry ice in them, but when baby's first Halloween is combined with baby's first birthday, your options are limited only by your imagination. You'll want to stay away from candles if there are a lot of little guests, but a blacklight in the bathroom or bright green or orange lights set the tone for very little money.

Candy loaded up in plastic pumpkins is a given, but remember you'll have two different groups you'll be feeding: small children as well as adults. Decorate your table with orange carrot sticks or mandarin slices tossed with blackberries. Talk to your local deli, and see if they can make a fruit or jellied mold in the shape of a pumpkin. Everyone loves a cake for baby's first birthday, but small children are probably better at handling cookies than a fork and plate.

A delightful combination of your child's first birthday party with all the fun of their first Halloween gives you lots of leeway in planning and decorating a fantastic party.

Celebrate Your Baby's First Birthday With Yo Gabba Gabba

There are few one year olds that haven't heard the crazy theme song on Nick Jr for Yo Gabba Gabba. Most parents of one year olds can even tell you who Dj Lance is. This is one of the teaching shows on Nick Jr where odd little creatures and Dj in funny clothes teach lessons about not being afraid, how to be friends and production sure you eat your vegetables. This makes Yo Gabba Gabba a wonder first birthday party theme if you want to entertain your little one and other kids at the party.

It may seem odd to you to go straight through so much issue for a birthday party that your child isn't even going to remember. I view so too... Before I became a mother. Now I can tell you that it was one of the most stressful birthday parties I have thrown. You want to make a lasting impression not only on your one year old... But on all the people that come to celebrate with you and your little one as the get ready to enter toddlerhood.

When planning your Yo Gabba Gabba party you need to think about who you are inviting. This will be one of the few parties that your child can't tell you who to request and who not to invite. They don't really have friends yet, so the guest list is basically going to be friends and family... And the little ones of those friends and house members. Don't worry... You may be stressed over having other children at the party. Particular planning will help operate any chaos that may take place.

Let's talk about the planning. Chaos can happen with a lot of people in one place, regardless of their age. The first way to head off any issues is with food. For a first birthday party that is Yo Gabba Gabba themed, you want to consist of a vegetable tray loaded with finger food sized vegetables such as baby carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, maybe even fresh green beans and other veggies. Cheese trays, lunch meat, small sandwiches, mini pizzas, hot dogs, mini burgers and other similar foods are also good ideas.

Then there is the cake. You have a combine of options here, you can get a sheet cake decorated with Yo Gabba Gabba characters, you can get a cake in the shape of one of the characters or brightly frosted cupcakes that match the characters on the show. Entertaining green, pink, yellow, red or blue are all Entertaining colors to get your little one to stick his or her fingers into their first cake.

One thing you can't forget if you are throwing a Yo Gabba Gabba themed first birthday party is music. You can play music and do funny little dances; a personal beloved of mine is "Hold still....Wiggle, Wiggle, Wiggle." There are former games you can play as well such as Pass the Bubble.

If you want to get adults complicated you can buy a few disposable cameras and hand them out to guests and have them take pictures while the party. Guests will get some shots that you won't be able to get. This will give you and your little one something to look back at and enjoy.
