Party Themes For 12 Year Olds

Turning 12 years old is something your child looks forward to. It is the period of being in-between. Your child is no longer a child but is also one year shy from becoming a teenager.

Your child will only turn twelve once in his life. Give him a party to celebrate this joyous occasion. It is important that at this age, you ask your child on the kind of party he or she wants. After all, being twelve, the child already had developed his or her own interests. He is old enough to be included in the decision making process of the upcoming party.

YO GABBA GABBA

Most 12 year old girls would prefer pajama parties or slumber parties for their birthdays. Others will request for a pool party with their classmates and friends. However, there are those who would like to treasure their last day as a child and go for the child-like theme parties.

For pool parties, it will be easier to rent a clubhouse or a hotel as a venue. Ask the guests to bring their own swim wears. And make sure to be compliant to the rules and regulations of the rented venue.

Another idea is to have a beauty pageant theme. The guests can also be the participants of the pageant. At twelve, these girls already love to dress up and starting to develop their own unique identities already.

For boys, here are some party theme ideas. The Knight Party is done in a venue that looks like a castle. Put shield and sword-shaped cut-outs onto the walls, making it look like a castle or a castle hallway. Improvised helmets and shields can be given to guests instead of the traditional party hats. There can also be a cake that resembles a castle with cone-shaped roofs and flags, as well as brick walls.

For activities, you can have a princess or a knight makeover station where guests can come for them to look like a knight in shining armor for the male ones, and a glamorous princess for the females.

The Army Party can resemble a military base or camp site where soldiers train. The wall of the venue is green or camouflaged, similar to the print of a soldier's uniform. You can also use images of bunkers, watchtowers and barbed wires to add to the army or soldier effect. The cake should have a soldier figurine with military vehicle toys or miniature replicas on it.

Guests may wear paper soldier helmets as a replacement for party hats. Roast food similar to what military people eat on camps. Snacks suck as cookies, candies and biscuits can be shaped like bombs, guns or little soldiers. Games may include a crawling race or a tug-o-war. For giveaways, it can be soldier figurines, toy tanks or army badge replicas.

The Airplane Party theme is a good choice for a birthday party for boys. Starting with the invitation, it should appear like an airplane ticket or an airline brochure. The venue's walls should have cloud images to create a sky ambiance. Hang airplane scale models in the ceiling to create an accent and serve as an added attraction for the guests. The cake can be likened to an airplane also, or designed with clouds. You can also serve white cotton candy that looks like clouds. Giveaways can be airplane toy figures or stuffed toys.

We only turn 50 once so why not celebrate it in memorable fashion with one of these fun 50th birthday ideas. Here are the top most popular 50th birthday party themes today. These will be presented in reverse order.

hello kitty party decorations

Mexican Fiesta
At number five is the Mexican Fiesta theme. This can be a really fun and colorful party with the right music, decorations and food. For decorations you will want to keep in mind the Mexican flag colors: red, blue and green. You can decorate with sombreros, maracas, dried chili peppers, table cloths in bright colors, small white Christmas lights strung about, ponchos, cactus, and any Mexican posters you can get your hands on. A creative idea for a game would have your guests involved in a timed nachos eating contest. Line up the contestants and load up the plates with nachos chips, and all of the fixings! Tie the contestant's hands behind their backs and have them dig in! A self serve taco bar is a fun idea for food. Your guests can create their own concoction if the nacho eating contest didn't fill them up!

PARTY DECORATIONS

Mardi Gras
At number 4 in popularity for 50th birthday ideas is a Mardi Gras party complete with beads, masks and Cajun food and decorations. Mardi Gras colors are blue, green and purple-use these colors in your decorating theme. Decorate with beads, pictures of New Orleans, jazz players, gold chocolate doubloons. Shrimp, crawfish and anything with Cajun spice make great food ideas. Be sure to offer up "hurricane" cocktails for a real authentic flavor. Mardi Gras wouldn't be Mardi Gras without lots of different beads. You can organize games fashioned around winning or using beads. Invite your guests to bring Mardi Gras masks and have a game involving the masks.

World Beer Party
Coming in at number three on our list might seem a surprise, but it is becoming more and more popular. An Around the World Beer Party can be very fun and creative if you're 50 year old is a connoisseur of beer. Obviously this party will involve varieties of beers from around the world-so you will have to find a good store that specializes in this area to help you with your selections. You can decorate in an international theme with flags from different countries. The store you buy the beer from may have samples of posters, coasters or even the cases the beer comes in to be used as decorations. Always fun at this type of party will be a time for a beer tasting-just as one might do at a wine tasting. Present some of the background and information on each beer so your guests will have fun tasting and learning at the same time. Food of the appetizer type would lend itself well for this type of 50th birthday party.

Luau Party
A tropical or Hawaiian Luau style themed party is extremely popular. People usually have tropical clothing so it is fun to dress the part for this theme. Keep the tropical theme in mind for decorations with tiki torches, shells, palm trees, lots of leis, surf boards, coconuts, pineapples, grass skirts, hula dancers, and citronella candles to ward off the bugs if outside. Pina coladas and mai tais make great drinks and if possible roasted pork for the meal. A tropical fruit salad with pineapple, mango, papaya served in a hollowed out watermelon works well and haupia, a traditional coconut pudding, for a desert idea. Games involving the limbo and hula hoops are fun for any age even at 50, especially if accompanied with music by Don Ho.

Casino Party
At number one for 50th birthday ideas, in terms of popularity today, is the Casino party theme. This is where you turn your house into an exciting casino for the evening. For this party you will want to decorate as much as possible so that you resemble a casino. Lots of bright and colored lights, music by Las Vegas headliners playing in the background, take different size boxes and paint to look like dice and place around the room, decorate with playing cards strung out or on tables. This is a theme where you will probably be best served by calling a company that rents the gaming tables. You can just rent the tables or many companies also include the people to run the tables. Blackjack, craps and roulette are very popular games at these types of parties. You can also have a table for poker playing Texas Hold-em. Have a no limit game that is timed, last for 30-45 minutes so everything moves fast. For those guests not into gaming, karaoke can be a lot of fun. A buffet with lots of varieties of salads and finger foods work well-just like a traditional Las Vegas buffet. A martini bar would be perfect for this theme. At the end of the evening you can auction off prizes with the money your guests have won.

Birthday Theme - Top Three Most Popular Party Themes For Children

Birthdays are one of the most important days of the year for children, and it's important to make sure they have a very special day. For all those parents whose children can't decide on their theme, here are some popular ideas that may help.

yo gabba gabba shoes

Pirate Theme: This may be the most popular theme among children. It really opens the birthday party to a wide variety of games, such as treasure hunts or pirates vs. civilians type games. Impress the kids by adding dry ice to the punch, causing it to bubble and smoke. There are also plenty of cheap costumes for purchase that add some extra flair to your birthday party. Eye patches, hooks, pirate hats, and parrots can be a great addition and are easy to find at relatively low costs. Other items that will help create the great pirate setting include gold coins, treasure maps, treasure chests, pirate ships and flags, and skulls. Top it off with a treasure chest birthday cake or a pirate skull cake and you're party is bound to be a hit. Princess Theme: In one form or another, the princess theme is the most widely used theme for a young girl's birthday party. Simply ask your child about her favorite princess and there is bound to be mounds of party supplies that will fit your needs. Current favorites include Tiana from Princess and the Frog, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Costumes are once again easy to create. Tell all the girls to bring their favorite princess dress and supply them with tiaras and jewelry. Then help them apply a little bit of makeup and they will all feel like princesses in no time. If you really want to impress them (and don't mind putting in the effort), decorate your car like a carriage and take them for a ride for ice cream. The options are really endless. Firefighter Theme: For some reason or another, boys absolutely fall in love with firefighters. Because of this, party stores have really focused on keeping firefighter items in stock, including fire truck plates, fire hydrant streamers, and the typical plates, napkins, party bags, invitations, etc. all with firefighter images. Costumes are easily created with the use of long rain jackets (the best colors would be red, yellow, or black), boots, and fireman caps. Make simple fire hydrants out of red or yellow cardboard stock and put up streamers of flames running across the room. You can send them on missions to put out "fires" (please don't start real fires) around the house with clever instructions. Let them feel like they saved the day and everyone will go back home feeling like a hero. These three parties work great for a lot of people, but the most important part of party planning is to make sure your child has the theme they want. Take the time to plan things out with them, and let their imaginations run wild. Chances are that they have ideas that never would have popped in your mind.

Kids Party Themes - How We Had a Lot of Fun With Some Crazy Carrots

Much of the fun of arranging a party for your kids lies in the planning and the anticipation. Choosing a theme for the party with your child can be a major part of that. Many parents get nervous of basing the party colse to a specific theme but having a clear focus can legitimately make life a lot easier. A good theme can be the hook colse to which you can plan all else along with invitations, decorations, costumes, games, party food and party bags / favors. That said many kids parties do seem to stick to a few tried and tested themes with pirates, princesses, fairies, superheroes and trains well to the fore

yo gabba gabba party decorations

Your child may have a good idea of the sort of thing they would like and its leading that they should have something that appeals. You can try to give a steer here but sometimes its nice to allow them to be a puny wacky. Most kids have a good sense of the surreal (just look at their photo books and dvds) and most themes can be legitimately adapted to incorporate all the key features of a good party.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

In fact one of the best parties we ever put on for our daughter was "Crazy Carrots". To this day I don't know where she got the idea, but we went with it and had real fun. Carrot shaped invitations were sent out and everybody had to bring a carrot to the party (which were used in one of the games). There were lots of pass the carrot games and races, and things to do with rabbits along with a Grandad in a very fetching bunny outfit.

All the family helpers had home-made carrot necklaces on and we'd made some carrot name badges for all the guests. At Teatime we had brilliant carrot shaped cookies and cup cakes with puny iced carrots on them. My daughter wore a crown decorated with card carrots as she blew out her candles. We ended up doing a Carrot version of the Okey Cokey which is now universally known in the neighbourhood as that Crazy Carrot Song!

The Crazy Carrot theme had started off seeming legitimately weird and difficult, but ended up being one of those great easy fun ideas that was time well spent with family and friends. So when Choosing a theme for your next kids party why not think outside the box a bit. A bit of enthusiasm and a few good ideas are all it takes to turn a distinct theme into a real winner.

Party Decorations and Themes

If you're artistic, making your own party decorations can be extremely fun and cost-efficient. On the other hand, if you're pressed for time, celebration supply stores and online discount celebration supply sites can be a real blessing.

To make things even easier, some celebration rental services bring all the actors, party decorations and backdrops for you, if you're willing to pay for it. After setting your budget, we can examine the various options.

PARTY DECORATIONS

First, choose a theme for your party decorations. Some possible ideas for an adult theme celebration include: luau, western, circus, safari, Hollywood, 1950s, Roaring 20s, disco, space, pirate, sports, Las Vegas, Arabian Nights, medieval times, Mardi Gras, Spanish fiesta, rock and roll or futuristic.

Kids often enjoy character and pop culture themes, like: Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer, Finding Nemo, Pokemon, Harry Potter or American Idol.

If you're interested in making your own decorations for a kids party, Coolest-kid-birthday-parties is a great resource. For example, with an undersea theme, you can follow step-by-step instructions on making a Finding Nemo pinata, a shark mouth standee to take photos next to and seashell party invitations. In addition to decoration ideas for various themes, the site also has food and activity tips.

If you'd rather purchase items, Party City is a great store where you can get accent themes like: disco, rock and roll, luau, movie night, fiesta, casino and western.

If you're throwing a fiesta, you can buy decorations like: chili pepper garland (.29), scene setters (), cut-outs ( - ), chili pepper lights (), an inflatable cactus (), a maraca centerpiece (), an inflatable sombrero cooler () and a pinata ( - ).

You might also want to check online at Orientaltradingpost for similar items. They have twelve assorted inflatable items for in the fiesta theme and great deals on bulk celebration favors.

Tableware and partyware add a nice touch to a theme party, often functioning as additional party decorations; however, the cost of these items can be exorbitant.

Most vendors sell plates in packages of eight, which is fine for intimate gatherings, but can be a nightmare if you're having fifty plus people attending. Partysupplydirect has similar deals for partyware but more selection.

A budget-conscious solution if you're not looking to spend 0 in partyware would be to purchase solid-color plates and cutlery but buy a couple of themed serving dishes, tablecloths and straws at half the cost. Another good way to stay on budget is to split expenses with other people and delegate partyware purchases.

While it is the most expensive option, hiring Premier Casino Events to provide the celebration decorations for you could be an elaborate and all-in-one, stress-free way to throw your celebration.

If you were throwing a Halloween one, not only would the company bring fog machines, coffins, cobwebbed park benches, trick mirrors and cemetery gates, but they would also bring casino games, ghoulish actors, music and food to entertain your guests for a full four hours as well!

Looking online for party decorations is a good way to brainstorm ideas. You may choose to make a few things yourself, like a pinata, or you may purchase decorations from a store.

Try to make your purchases thoughtful and don't waste money on things you'll never use again. Delegating responsibilities to co-planners can also help you cut costs and share the excitement with friends, especially when it comes to a surprise birthday party!
