A Summer Birthday Party at the Park

Parties at the park during summer months are fun. Everyone can soak up the pleasure of the surroundings and everyone invited can enjoy the beautiful day. Some summer parties are birthdays, to company picnics. Keeping these simple is easy with few decorations and a few planned games.

For decorations you can have balloons. Balloons are inexpensive and usually you can buy a package with maybe about twenty to fifty in the pack. Blow them up and group them in three, tie with a string and you have a balloon cluster. You can attach these to the tables or a nearby tree. If you don't want balloons crepe paper is also a great item to use. Purchase several different colors put them together and twirl them and hand them around table or tree.

Games are fun too. Having a plan as to which ones are smart to have. One game from yesteryear is red light/green light. Have the kids and/or adults line up in a line about fifteen yards out and have a person that will be the light. They players in the line must take one step at a time...no running. The light will either say green light or red. If you move on a red light then you are out. The person/person who ends up close will get a small token/gift.

Another game to play is Simon says. Having a player that is Simon, he will tell the players what to do. Some examples are, Simon says hop in place, Simon says stop, then you can say jump, if anyone jumps when you just jump they are out.

These games are free to play. No one will get hurt playing these. They are simple and even the youngest of players can understand how to play. These are just simple games and decorations. When you are on a budget and at a loss as to what games and décor to have then this simple suggestion will come in handy.

Summer Buffet Table Decorating Ideas

It's time for summer celebrations, entertaining family and friends. If you're serving food, your buffet table will take center stage. Our rule for summer is to keep it simple. Whether you're throwing a tea party, beach party or having a holiday get together; these three easy steps will turn your ordinary buffet table into a dining area masterpiece!

Three easy steps to setting an eye catching buffet table:

PARTY DECORATIONS

1. Start with a theme:

A theme will keep everything tied together and will help you choose your menu and decorations. Remember; keep it simple so you don't end up with a lot of "stuff" cluttering the buffet table. Your theme can be based on a color or on a subject. For instance if you're having a summer tea party, you could decorate with an assortment of tea cups.

2. Choose either a centerpiece or a focal point:

The occasion and size of the buffet table will most likely determine the choice of a centerpiece or focal point. A centerpiece will always be your focal point; however, a focal point does not have to be a centerpiece. Using the tea party as an example we would choose a centerpiece. An idea would be to have a four tier stand with scones and other goodies sitting in the center of your buffet table. On one side, set your plates, napkins and silverware. On the opposite site, a teapot with your tea cups alongside. Keep in mind how you want the buffet table to flow. We suggest setting your buffet so your guests will start at one end and move down the table to the other.

3. Add appropriate embellishments:

Keep your embellishments simple and small. Your embellishments should compliment your centerpiece without taking the attention from your focal point or making it difficult for your guests to fill their plate. Just add a few decorative touches to finish out your display. Make sure the embellishments are fitting to the theme you have chosen. If you're having a tea party you wouldn't want a glass of sea shells or something that would represent the beach! To help determine where you will place the embellishments, we suggest laying out where the food will be placed on the buffet table first. Use decorative cake platters and stands to set the food at different heights. You can also use different size boxes set underneath a table cloth to achieve the same look. Having the menu items set at different heights will make it easier for your guests to see what is being offered and give your buffet table a sophisticated look.

For our tea party we chose to embellish with miniature flower bouquets that reflected the colors on the tea cups. We cut the stems short and placed them in vases, grouped together in different shapes and sizes.

Summer Party Food Ideas

Finding food that's quick to make and easy to serve can make having a party easy. Food is one of the trickiest parts of a party; you need to get stuff that tastes great and something that everyone will eat. Although people usually like to cook something special for a party or a dinner, it doesn't work for summer.

The truth is that planning food for a summer party is much easier than it is for a holiday party if you just stick to a few must eat foods. Hot dogs may not seem like the kind of thing to serve at a party, but given the summer time, people aren't likely to eat anything else.

If you're crazy about having dressed up food at the party, go with appetizers; meat is the easy and quick option. You can grill it or cook it some other way and with just a little bit of garnishing, it can make a great appetizer. There are also the ever popular chips with dips. The easiest way to add some flavor to a summer recipe is with cheese. You can bake potatoes and sprinkle some cheddar on top to give it flavor.

Fruit is also a must eat in summer; the variety of fruit available in summer is huge and if you're having a party you should definitely treat your guests. Chocolate strawberries or white chocolate covered strawberries are a great way to serve fruit. People are used to eating strawberries with cream but chocolate is a unique way to serve it
