Planning Your Child's Christian Themed Birthday Party

Walk into any party store and you'll find dozens of various birthday party theme ideas, from American Idol to Zoology. But the thing is they've all been done a thousand times before. Maybe you don't want same old, same old. You want something different. More importantly, you'd like the theme to reflect your Christian beliefs - which Hannah Montana or Tony Hawk just can't do.

Why not throw your son or daughter a Christian-themed party? Since you likely won't find these themes in party stores, it will take a little more planning. But with some thought and a little extra time, you're sure to end up with a fun and unique party that will be a hit with kids and parents, alike.

YO GABBA GABBA

Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

NOAH'S ARK. Know someone who has a boat you can borrow or rent for the day? Invite your child's friends to a party on Noah's ark. Dress up your child as Noah and have the guests come dressed as their favorite animal. No boat available? No problem! Create your own boat in the basement or party room. Decorate with cut-out animals, rainbows and other Noah's Ark accessories.

Another option: If it's a summer birthday and the weather permits, hand out rain slickers and turn on the sprinklers for forty-minutes of fun in the "rain."

PRINCESS. Who needs to dress up like Cinderella or Snow White? Your little girl is a child of the True King - so treat her like the genuine princess she is! Invite all of her friends to the palace for a royal celebration. Have lots of gowns, high heeled shoes, and white elbow gloves on-hand for dress-up. Tiara's are definitely required.

BIBLE CHARACTER. Great for any age. Have guests dress up like their favorite Bible character. For the first game, play "ten questions" and allow kids to ask "yes or no" questions to see if they can discover which Bible character their friends are portraying. If you'd rather not play dress up, a game option is to pin a Bible character name to each guest's back. Then have guests mingle and ask questions about their character to try and guess who they are.

THE AMAZING CHURCH RACE. This is a great party idea for older kids who can drive. If under age, designate a driver for each team car. Have teams race (within the speed limit, of course!) to a few different churches in the area and perform tasks, as they would for a scavenger hunt. Maybe they will have to get a bulletin from the secretary, take a digital photo of a staff member, or get the name of the Youth Pastor. If churches are closed, require a digital photo of the church itself as proof that they performed their task.

POPULAR VIDEO CHARACTERS. With the many Christian videos on the market, some kids are bent on a specific character party. 1-2-3 Penguins, Hermie, Adventures in Odyssey, and Life at the Pond are all video-based themes you can base your party around. And, of course, Veggie Tales is one of those Christian based theme you will find at the average party store.

Use these ideas as springboards for your own creativity. Plan a party for your child that kids won't only enjoy, they'll be talking about it for a long time to come.

Decorate Your DIY Baseball Theme Table Centerpieces with Common Items or Easy to Make Enhancements

Baseball themed centerpieces are one of the most popular types of centerpiece requests we receive year round. Several centerpiece bases or variations are available, although a square base is the most popular. A wide assortment of embellishments is available to further decorate the centerpiece and further support the baseball theme.

Most of our baseball centerpieces start with a square Styrofoam® base. The square represents the diamond figure of a normal baseball infield. A lot of times we cover square base with colored metallic paper. You can also add a terrific enhancement by covering the base with a piece of green indoor/outdoor carpeting. It is a little more difficult to work than metallic papers but it is quite striking and almost looks like real grass.

The indoor/outdoor carpeting is readily available in home improvement stores. It can be purchased off rolls and cut to various lengths. It generally comes nine (9') wide but is sometimes available in remnants.

We cut a carpet square somewhat larger than the Styrofoam® base to properly cover it. Low temperature glue is used to secure the carpet to the base. (Note: Do not use high temperature glue since it melts the Styrofoam®.) Trim the excess off with a sharp scissors.

Next we cut out small white cardboard squares for first, second, and third bases, and the traditional home plate design. These are glued onto the carpeting, again with low temperature glue. We might add small baseball figures in two separate colors to represent the baseball players. These are available from toy and hobby stores and occasionally dollar stores. Sports ribbon is available to cover the sides of the base.

Other decorations you can use include small plastic bats and balls, pop cans, pop corn boxes, carmel corn boxes, fake hot dogs, peanut bags, trophies, candy, fake cotton candy etc. We have used real baseball caps, gloves, pennants (both large and small), baseball cards, etc. Even full sized jerseys can be used on larger centerpieces. Beer cans can be added for an adult party.

In addition, there are 12" baseball figures available, or you can cut profiles of caps or gloves from pieces of Styrofoam® and paint or even glitter them. All of these items can be attached to wooden dowels or plastic picks to add height and bring them above the simulated playing field. (Note: If you use the indoor/outdoor carpet since the backing has a rubber base, you will need a sharp, pointed hobby knife to penetrate it.)

Have fun putting your baseball centerpieces together. Use these ideas and your imagination to find other interesting variations on this great theme table decoration. If needed for place card settings, use player or team names or even baseball stadiums.

Cork Favors

A wine cork, is of course, synonymous with wine and any wine-themed event. So it is not surprising that many select real cork favors as the favor of choice at their party.

But did you know that cork is carefully as environmentally friendly? It is typically harvested from the trunk of cork oak trees every 9 years once the trees have reached 25 years (in lives that typically spans 200 years).   Because of cork's elasticity and its near impermeability it makes a near excellent material for wine bottle stoppers. Cork is also precisely recycled - an additional one environmentally friendly aspect.  As of late - cork flooring is becoming a beloved choice for gourmands; no slipping and sliding on it and it takes well to dents caused by dropped pots and pans.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

Some beloved 'real' cork favors include:

Cork Place Card Holders

Although there are many cork place card holders ready made from plastic or resin,  nothing compares to the real thing.   Typically made from seconds from actual wineries, they add an additional one eco-friendly dimension to this favor. You can also have them customized by having names or images added to them. Guests can then take them home as a keepsake of your event and use them to display play photos or memos.

Cork Coasters

These, like the place card holders, have one side sanded down so that they stand flat on the table. Corkboard is added to the lowest for added stability. Although they look like glasses would wobble on them this is not the case; all glasses set flat on them.

Cork Themed Favors

Not precisely made of cork, rather 'cork' is part of the theme.  Wine cork shaped candles are one such favor. So are personalized candy bar wrappers that have a photo of a cork on the wrapper.

Creating and Designing a Sports Banquet Theme

Sports banquets are centered on rewards, sports stories, sports heroes and food. They are a time of celebrating the finished season and moving on to the next season. The decorations that fill the room create a theme for the banquet. They tell a story and they often dominate the atmosphere. Sports banquet decorations begin with the decision to go formal or informal. The decision to go informal leaves a huge space for gag decorations such as stuffed sports jerseys and bowls that are shaped like different sports equipment such as footballs and soccer balls. The decision to go formal is created with a whole different atmosphere. Lighting is important in a dining setting. Candles on the tables indicate formality while balloons can create a less formal atmosphere.

Huge cut outs of famous football heroes can be created around the beverage table. A greeter at the door could be dressed in full sports attire. For a less formal theme there are supplies available through party stores such as confetti, cups, streamers and napkins.

YO GABBA GABBA

Using technology such as large screens behind the speaker can create a screen for photos of the sport season or of old time players. Streamers can be paper or even material depending on whether you choose a formal or informal theme. The table clothes should be cloth for a formal affair and can be crazy and fun for an informal affair. Sports memorabilia can be set out on display. Photos of the seasons best plays can crowded with observers during various intervals in the banquet. The decorations at the banquet should be appealing to the eye and should also create some conversation pieces.

Juice fountains and lighted displays on the food tables can create a beautiful ambiance. Looking for ambiance should be done for formal affairs. Create the head table to stand out from the rest. Small trophies can be placed as table settings marked with the names of the guest. The same idea can be created using small footballs found at a party store. They can then have the name of the guest on a card glued to the football. Party favors can also join the sports theme with mini pre-made boxes in the shape of or imprinted with footballs or soccer balls. Each box can then be filed with small candies. The theme of the party can take on personality as various ideas are captured and created. A great banquet is one that is remembered in the years to come. This all starts with the setting of the room and the atmosphere created.

50th Birthday Party Games

The first fifty years are just for practice and 50th Birthday Party Games can be a testimonial to the life lessons learned thus far. Guessing games based on trivia from the guest of honor's lifetime would be a perfect way to highlight these lessons learned along the way.

Create just the right set of questions that will focus on historic events and popular culture that are of particular interest to the invited guests. Give a lot of energy to researching long before the 50th birthday party so that the guest of honor is pleased to shine in his or her particular area of expertise. For instance, if that person's favorite musical tastes tended toward the British Invasion of the 1960's ask lots of questions that will dust competition from the younger guests. It will have a tendency to stack the deck but what better gift is there than ensuring a 50th birthday win?

PARTY DECORATIONS

Another possible way to accomplish the same end would be to create a word 50th birthday party game that utilizes areas of the guest of honor's special knowledge. Hangman can be played using the medical term ""cyanotic"" that the nurse would guess right off the bat. A plant that is very familiar to a botanist albeit somewhat obscure to the others in the crowd would do the trick. Use of a term like ""gusset"" will be very familiar to the seamstress but of little if any familiarity to the attorney. Throw in a few terms or questions from recent news events, movies and television so that everyone has a few wins. It gets boring to loose all the time!

Decorate with vivacious colors and themed paper party goods. Keep things fun and the food scrumptious so that the 50th birthday party sends the message that the best is yet to come in life.

Birthday Party Menu Ideas

A birthday party is a major event for the person whose birthday is being celebrated and also for the people who are responsible for holding and organising the birthday party. One of the most important decisions regarding birthday parties is to decide the menu for the birthday. In order to decide a menu for a birthday party, it is important to be clear about some things prior to deciding the menu.

Other than that, the people being invited to the party and their status and age also contribute in deciding about the kind of menu for the party. You can either have the party indoors or outdoors, depending upon the weather and also your own suitability and liking.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Whether you are holding a birthday party for a child or an adult, there is not going to be much of a difference in the arrangement of the menu. There are, however, subtle differences in the kind of food on the menu. On an adult's birthday, the food has to be more towards things having exotic tastes. There can be all kinds of adult only menus, having things from raw vegetables and salads to delicacies and caviar and even anchovies along with some alcoholic beverages.

In an adult birthday party, you can have a salad with Italian dressing in the menu. Even a pizza would work if the party is a less formal gathering. You can also have lasagna on the menu for an adult birthday party. Lasagna is an easily and typically served item on the menu for birthday parties. You can keep items on your menu simple or can make them more elegant, depending upon the nature of the gathering. A good consideration for an adult birthday party menu would be to include one or two items in the menu that are the favourites of the guest of honour.

In case of the birthday of children, you have a lot of options for the themes of the party and also for the menu. For a child's birthday party, the guests would more likely consist of kids in a greater number. So, the menu has to be made accordingly. It is always good to have more fun kind of items on the menu for children's birthday party. The menu has to be further differentiated on the basis of whether it's a girl's birthday or a boy's birthday party.

For a teenager's birthday, pizza can be a good item on the menu and there should be a good amount of snacks as well. Other than that, burgers can also be a good idea. For children, different cookies and biscuits of various shapes are also a good and fun item on the menu. The favourite cartoon characters of the children can also be used in different food items.

The cake is an important element of any birthday party menu, whether it is a child's birthday or an adult's. So, the cake should have the icing, topping, and decoration in the favourite flavour of the guest of honour.

Frankenstein Halloween Costumes

Of all cinematic monsters, people's knowledge of the Frankenstein monster is impressively long-standing. He is actually one of the most identifiable monsters in history. This is why he's a great choice for Halloween masks. Almost everyone knows him! Frankenstein, that creature with huge, green head and has bolts on the neck. This costume is truly classic, but cool. The array of Frankenstein costume is wide, from jokey to eerie.

Comical variety is made predominantly for kids. For the very reason of keeping their mind away from dark stories of this creature, play it happily, and just enjoy wearing the character.

Frankenstein Costume for Kids

Trick or Treat Season is not the time for kids to be violent. It is the time for them to be in high spirits, to be creative and animated. There are adorable Frankenstein costumes that are ideal for their age. Be sure to find a great one for your kid. One cool costume comes with green jacket and matching black pants. The hood attached to the jacket has large hole for the face. Similar with Frankenstein, there are bolts in the neck. Under the chin is where the Velcro is. The arms are also green in color and embroidered with bolts and stitches. Both the pants and jacket have green, red and orange patches that mark skulls. The pants have elastic waistband. With elastic that wrap around your child's shoes placed at the bottom of the shoe covers, kids will not feel uncomfortable because of unsecured shoe covers.

Frankenstein Costume for Adults

You can find ready-made Frankenstein costumes at your local Costume Retail Stores. Shopping online is an option too. If you want a Frankenstein monster, you will need huge and bulky costume. The typical costume includes green jacket with an attached plain black shirt made out of foam. The pair of matching pants have elastic waistband for an easy and comfy fit. This costume is absolutely oversized that even shoe covers have foam. Shoes must be tied around the ankles. Securing over the shoes requires elastic bands. They should be positioned at the bottom. Top off your costume with a headpiece. The headpiece has green latex covering the forehead and with black hair hangs down the sides and back.

Walk around with your arms straight out and make grunting noises to really personify the costume. As long as you enjoy wearing your costume, everything will be fine. You have to feel good about yourself. Costume parties are great escape from reality; it is when imagination and silliness takes over.

Match your costume with a bride if you plan to have a partner. An old wedding dress or any long and lacey white dress is a perfect costume for your partner. Line the top and bottom of eyes with black eyeliner, and apply long false eyelashes to enhance the effect.

Frankenstein Costume is indeed a traditional choice for many party-goers. With dash of creativity and clever ideas, you can even spin yours to suit your own preference. Just don't forget the attitude!

Birthday Invitation Phrases and Wording

Birthday invitations, and the wording and phrases that go in them, can run the gamut from witty and fun to serious and straightforward. The best thing to keep in mind when deciding upon birthday invitation verses and wording is who the birthday party is for. Age, personality, interests, and even profession can play a part. The invitation wording should represent the celebrant well.

Children's Birthday Invitations are typically fun and lighthearted, and usually play a part in a larger theme. Sometimes inspiration for a theme can come just by browsing through some birthday invitations.

YO GABBA GABBA

Once a theme is in place, you'll want to include birthday invitation wording to match. For a Circus themed party with Circus party invitations the invitation wording might read:

The giraffe stretches his neck to see;
the elephant waves his trunk with glee;
the seal twirls his ball with joy,
in honor of the birthday boy.
Come join Cody in celebrating his seventh birthday
Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 PM
RSVP (509) 123-4567

The older the child gets it may become easier to decide on a theme, or even forgo the theme as the child gets into its teen years. A sweet sixteen, for example, is a theme all its own. For this kind of party, you should pick out some Sweet Sixteen invitations that fit the personality of the celebrant. If it's a girl, something pink and frilly might be appropriate, such as Princess Tiara Birthday Party Invitation, with the following wording:

Steer clear! Brianna's got a license to drive!
Come celebrate her sweet sixteen.
Friday, March 14th
5:00 - 7:00 PM
at Big Daddy's Bowling
2850 S. Ray, Spokane
R.S.V.P. (509)-777-7777

If the birthday person is turning 18 years of age or younger, it is considered okay to include the exact age they are turning in the birthday invitation wording. When considering including jokes about age, do so with much consideration and sensitivity. Consider the formality of the party and who's being invited. If it's a formal dinner for a coworker, you may want to nix any thought of light-heartedness. If it's a backyard barbecue party for a close relative or friend, this may be the perfect time for a light-hearted jab. Generally, the rule is to only make an age-related joke if the person who's birthday you're celebrating would make the joke themselves.

When considering birthday invitation wording when the celebrant is an adult, it is common to point out the joys of growing older:

Some things are better the older they grow.
Antiques, wine and someone special we know!

You should still keep in mind who is having the birthday. You don't necessarily have to throw a themed party, but the wording for the birthday invitation cards should show a glimmer of who the celebrant is. Let's say the celebrant enjoys Gardening. You'll want to get Garden Party Invitations and include matching wording:

Friends are flowers in the garden of life . . .
and we've "picked" a great bunch to celebrate Jackie's Birthday.

Another avenue you might pursue is the surprise party. In your invitation wording, it should be expressed clearly that the celebrant doesn't and shouldn't know details of the party. Here are some examples:

Shh! It's a surprise party!
Please join us in celebrating
Holly Roberts 30th birthday
On September 2nd
At 7 o'clock pm
The Smith's House
1201 S. Wesley
Madison, WI

Our good friend Jerry is turning the big 5-0
We're throwing a party, and you're invited to show.
If you can make it, here's a word to the wise,
Keep it under your hat, 'cause it's a surprise!
July 10th at 6 PM
At the Rock Bottom Brewery
560 Main Street
Seattle, WA

Please join us in celebrating
Tina Clarks Birthday
on May 22nd
Cocktails - 6:00pm
Dinner - 7:30pm
Scratch Restaurant
345 W Ivy
It's a surprise!

Overall, your birthday invitation wording should not only convey the details of the party, but should also be a good reflection of who the celebrant is.

10 Great Activities For Autistic Children

Sometimes trying to come up with activities for autistic kids that will be fun, educational and not cost a lot can be a struggle. So it's reassuring to know that there are a number of possibilities out there, it's just a matter of finding some that will appeal to your child's personal tastes. The following are examples of popular activities for autistic children between the ages of 7 and 11.

Indoor Activities:

PARTY DECORATIONS

- Singing - autistic children gain a number of benefits from singing. Children who are non-verbal can hum, make sounds, or play musical instruments such as whistles, tambourines, drums, kazoos, or small keyboards. Repeating sounds, making up new tunes, or even learning educational lyrics can be very useful for helping kids to learn and may also provide them some much-needed sensory stimulation - the same they would get from yelling, only more pleasing to the parental ear! Mimicking one another's notes and tunes can be an important social experience that encourages interaction. Experiment with different sounds and different types of music to find the ones your child enjoys and responds best to.

- Funny Sounds - making and mimicking funny sounds can be a laughter-filled social learning experience for autistic kids and their parents. Children enjoy the sensory outlet and repetition element of this game. You can try writing down a number of different animals or items on different pieces of paper and whichever you choose you have to make the appropriate noise.

- Castles - building castles out of just about anything can be a great deal of fun. The type of building "blocks" depends on the motor skills of the child. It can range from plastic or wooden alphabet blocks to large "Lego" or "Duplo" style blocks, or even playing cards if they're manually dexterous.

- Safe Emergencies - these games are educational based but can also be fun to. They involve enacting the right procedures for what to do in an emergency event. This includes what to do in case of fire and other urgent situations. The important part of these games is to build a calm routine around them.

- Simple Board Games - Begin with simple or basic board games and increase the difficulty level as your child gets older and learns how to work with the rules of the games. Many board games are enjoyable activities for autistic kids because they are relatively predictable and provide a routine. They also encourage turn taking, but make sure losing is never a big deal, it's just an outcome. Otherwise they may associate negative emotions with the game and refuse to play.

Outdoor Activities:

- Simple Childhood Games - think back to your childhood and the games you used to play. For many children there's no reason why they can't take part in basic childhood games. As long as they are not too socially complex, many autistic children can have a lot of fun playing games such as tag or follow the leader. Keep in mind that the best activities for autistic children don't require them to keep close or extended physical contact with other people. You may want to make sure that you stick to games that focus on your child's unique skills to add comfort and confidence to the playing.

- Organized Sports - many children enjoy taking part in organized sports like any other children their age. Aim for sports that allow them to take part without too much sensory stimulation and that doesn't require lots of equipment. Golf and baseball are good activities for autistic kids, whereas sports such as tackle football may not suit.

- Water Balloons - autistic children can often benefit from various sensory stimulators and water balloons can fit the bill. Tossing them about, or holding and squishing them can be lots of fun. This also encourages children to play with others when it comes to games such as "hot potato" - tossing the water filled balloon to one another pretending it's a hot potato.

- Skipping Rocks - if you are fortunate enough to live near water and your child is responsible around water, skipping rocks can be a great way to have fun and use arm muscles, encouraging the development of motor skills. If you have a swimming pool that is large enough, you can try skipping plastic floating disks instead.

- I Spy - whether trying to pass the time in the car or sitting in the yard, this game is a great way to learn colors socially interact with others.

These activities for autistic children are a great way to have fun, learn important lessons, and develop basic social skills without spending the earth.

YO GABBA GABBA

You can wear a pair of black ankle boots to finish off the outfit.  The ladies' Ghostbusters fancy dress has a small proton pack that can be used as a handbag. 80's hairstyles were big and bold, so it's a great opportunity to wear a long flowing 80's style wig. Party Themes For 12 Year Olds

Turning 12 years old is something your child looks forward to. It is the period of being in-between. Your child is no longer a child but is also one year shy from becoming a teenager.

Your child will only turn twelve once in his life. Give him a party to celebrate this joyous occasion. It is important that at this age, you ask your child on the kind of party he or she wants. After all, being twelve, the child already had developed his or her own interests. He is old enough to be included in the decision making process of the upcoming party.

YO GABBA GABBA

Most 12 year old girls would prefer pajama parties or slumber parties for their birthdays. Others will request for a pool party with their classmates and friends. However, there are those who would like to treasure their last day as a child and go for the child-like theme parties.

For pool parties, it will be easier to rent a clubhouse or a hotel as a venue. Ask the guests to bring their own swim wears. And make sure to be compliant to the rules and regulations of the rented venue.

Another idea is to have a beauty pageant theme. The guests can also be the participants of the pageant. At twelve, these girls already love to dress up and starting to develop their own unique identities already.

For boys, here are some party theme ideas. The Knight Party is done in a venue that looks like a castle. Put shield and sword-shaped cut-outs onto the walls, making it look like a castle or a castle hallway. Improvised helmets and shields can be given to guests instead of the traditional party hats. There can also be a cake that resembles a castle with cone-shaped roofs and flags, as well as brick walls.

For activities, you can have a princess or a knight makeover station where guests can come for them to look like a knight in shining armor for the male ones, and a glamorous princess for the females.

The Army Party can resemble a military base or camp site where soldiers train. The wall of the venue is green or camouflaged, similar to the print of a soldier's uniform. You can also use images of bunkers, watchtowers and barbed wires to add to the army or soldier effect. The cake should have a soldier figurine with military vehicle toys or miniature replicas on it.

Guests may wear paper soldier helmets as a replacement for party hats. Roast food similar to what military people eat on camps. Snacks suck as cookies, candies and biscuits can be shaped like bombs, guns or little soldiers. Games may include a crawling race or a tug-o-war. For giveaways, it can be soldier figurines, toy tanks or army badge replicas.

The Airplane Party theme is a good choice for a birthday party for boys. Starting with the invitation, it should appear like an airplane ticket or an airline brochure. The venue's walls should have cloud images to create a sky ambiance. Hang airplane scale models in the ceiling to create an accent and serve as an added attraction for the guests. The cake can be likened to an airplane also, or designed with clouds. You can also serve white cotton candy that looks like clouds. Giveaways can be airplane toy figures or stuffed toys.

Spongebob Squarepants: Party in a Pineapple Under the Sea!

If your child is a Spongebob fan (and who isn't?) you will be surprised at the wealth of ideas, crafts, games, party favors, and party packages available online, in party supply stores, and department stores. You can even download free Spongebob music online, and burn cd's to play at the party, and even include in the goodie bags as party favors!

Spongebob and his bubbly bunch can be found online. You can find a photo you like, and using your photo editing program, create party invitations featuring your child lounging on a beach with Spongebob. All you have to do is find a photo of Spongebob, or whichever of his friends your child loves the most, take a picture of your child, and create a photo that looks as if they were side by side when the photo was taken. Make copies of this photo, including the time and date of the party, directions to your house, and be sure to specify a time the guests should be picked up after the party. It is always a good idea to invite a couple of other parents you know, so they can lend a hand, and the party is on!

PARTY DECORATIONS

Spongebob Squarepants Decorations

If you are able to hold this party outdoors, the decorations are very easy. Most anyone can buy Spongebob, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Gary, Squidward Tentacles, Mr. Krabs, Jellyfish, Plankton, and Bikini Bottom posters, which can be glued to cardboard (ask the local appliance store for big boxes) and you can even make cutouts, if you want. Use a very sturdy glue, such as F-26, to affix wooden spikes, and put them into the ground throughout the party area. Put kiddie pools out, and even if it is too cool to swim, you can fill the pools with sand and pails and shovels. Stake out a few sheets of clear plastic, onto which you can paint Spongebob and his friends, or affix stickers, to provide clean areas for crafts and eating. Make jellyfish from pink balloons, by blowing up a balloon, and gluing or taping long, uninflated balloons to create tentacles. String up lots of sea blue and green crepe paper streamers to blow in the wind.

Spongebob Squarepants Party Games

Have a black bag of chocolate coins, and give each guest a ziplock bag. Everyone gets a coin at the end of each game, and a warning to guard it, because Mr. Krabs might be waiting to scoop them up!

"Who Am I?" is a great game! Have pictures of Spongebob and all his friends ready. Call each guest, one at a time. Tape a Spongebob character printout on their back, allowing the other guests to see. The person with the photo on their back can ask yes and no questions, such as, "Am I yellow?" "Am I a Snail?" etc., until he can guess which character is on his back.

"The Jellyfish Stomp" is another fun game! Before inflating some of your jellyfish balloons, put small pieces of paper inside with the name of a party favor on it (like "Stickers" "sour straws"...) and when the music stops, the dancer stomps a balloon, and wins the gift inside.

Before singing happy birthday, play the Spongebob theme song (Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!) Then sing happy birthday, and serve cake, ice cream and seawater punch.

Seawater Punch

Blue Raspberry soft drink mix (mixed according to package directions)

1 bottle lemon lime soda

1 pint of vanilla ice cream

1 can pineapple juice

Be sure to have lots of washable markers in each child's goodie bag, and allow them to color some printed and copied coloring pages, while, one at a time, each child is allowed to have his photo taken with his favorite cardboard character, and allow them to take the photo home with them when they leave.

Party Ideas For Kids - Fun Finger Food

If you are planning a birthday party for your child, one of the most leading considerations should be the food you plan on serving. After all what kid doesn't love to eat?

Finger foods are a great menu selection for kids of all ages. Many of the choices are quite low on the "messy scale," easy to make and just plain fun to eat! (Yes, even when you are preparing them.)You don't need a plate, fork, or spoon.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

You are truly only petite by your creativity and your budget. Finger foods work best when they are 100% edible that means nothing to pick out or cut off. They include things like cheese and crackers, fruit and a variety of petite sandwiches, just to name a few.

Cut the crusts off of white bread and spread with cream cheese and jelly. A blend of cream cheese and a thin slice of cucumber works well too. Cut in quarters.

Cut a small dinner roll in half. Take off some of the bread to make a hollow. Stuff the hollow with chicken, ham or tuna salad. Serve as a topless sandwich with the fillings showing.

Hollow out cherry tomatoes, salt lightly and place upside down on a paper towel to drain for a few minutes. Stuff with bungalow cheese mixed with ranch dip.

Deviled eggs are easy and quick and most children like them.

Stuff celery stalks with peanut butter and raisins, spreadable cheese, or cream cheese then cut into bite size chunks.

Baby vegetables intrigue children. Serve baby patty pan squash, zucchini, string beans, and carrots with or without a dip. If you determine on a dip make it with bungalow cheese whirled in a blender till smooth, that's a healthier selection than sour cream or mayonnaise.

Spread small tortillas with refried beans, grated cheese and a bit of mild salsa. Fold as for a burrito, tucking the ends in, then cut in half. These can be served at room temperature.

Crackers are available in approximately every shape and flavor imaginable. Graham crackers are even fair game, in this case. Younger kids will appreciate those that are animal shaped, such as Teddy Grahams.

Pineapple chunks, apple slices, grapes or raisins, strawberries, banana chunks and peach slices all make great finger foods. Either you serve them with or without some type of fruit dip, kids will love them.

Buy petite hot dogs and serve with dips of ketchup, bbq sauce, and a mild honey mustard sauce. French fries are appetizing with these sauces as well. Children love chicken wing drummets. Buy them ready or make them yourself. If you buy them get the plain ones.

Keep portions tiny so petite fingers can cope these fun finger food ideas.

Birthday Party Games for Boys

Boys are rambunctious and like to play hard. Some favorite party games that we have found our boys like. You can modify the rules of the games if you want, just have lots of fun!

Water gun fights

YO GABBA GABBA

This is like the classic cowboys and Indians game. Boys are split up into teams and armed with squirt guns. The object is to drench the opposing team. No hostages, just full on war. You may want to make sure that they bring extra clothes or only play this game on hot summer games. There are all sorts of water guns available, even the dollar stores have several shapes and sizes available.

Three Legged Race

With this game it is important the boys are close to the same size or one could drag and injure the other. Little boys may want to accompany an adult. Pair up the boys into teams of two. Tie the right leg to the left leg of your teams. The goal is to run together, as a unit, and finish the race first. You can make this interesting by making it an obstacle course or you can have a straightforward race from point A to point B.

War

The boys all have a gun and holster, or a sword and holster, and they play war. I encourage the children not to point their weapons at each other but to pretend to shoot at the feet of their victims and make them dance for you. Imagination usually takes control of the boys and they find a way of becoming super heroes, cowboys, bad guys, whatever their group seems to need and they act out what they can imagine.

Pirate

Boys can dress up in pirate costumes and reenact their favorite pirate movie. From treasure hunts to dueling the games are only limited by your imagination...or the imagination of the children.

Spoon race

It takes a spoon and either an orange, an apple, a tomato, a small ball, or an egg to play this game. The players all have a spoon held in their teeth and they pass the item from one another touching nothing with your hands. The item is supposed to make it to the end without falling but with younger children this may prove to be difficult.

A twist on this game is the players can place the item on the spoon then place their hands behind their backs and run to the finish line without dropping the item.

Fun Adult Party Games

Adult party games can be a little goofier and a little more risqué so have some fun with the following two games we suggest for your party.

The first game for the adult party is a fun romp called 'Feeding Time'. Have all the women at the party sit in a row of chairs on the opposite side of the party area. They should each have a baby bottle filled with something to drink (you can use milk or alcohol for these adult babies) and each should have a bib.

YO GABBA GABBA

Place an equal number of men on the opposite side of the adult party area. At your 'go' each of the men should run to their partner and get into her lap. The women will tie a bib about the man's neck and start feeding him from the bottle. The man can cling on to the woman but he's not aloud to touch the bottle with his hands. Once the bottle is empty the woman unties the bib and both run back to the men's starting place. The winning couple is the first one across the finish line.

Our second suggestion is more of a fun pastime than an actual adult party game. 'Body painting' can be made a little competitive if you give an award at the end of the painting session for the most artistic or most risqué body art. You'll need to spread out some newspapers or a floor cloth to keep paint from coloring the carpet and you'll also need body paints or face crayons, brushes and some water.

Have the guests get into groups of three and arrange themselves so they can paint on each other's body. They can paint anywhere on the body as long as their painting partners are okay with it. At the end have everyone admire each other's body art. This is definitely a game reserved for those adult parties so keep the kids out of it!

Ten Fun and Creepy Halloween Party Snacks

It doesn't matter if you have a big family or if you're on your own... Halloween is one of the most fun holidays ever invented. But if you are a busy mom (and your house is the one house on the block where every person goes for Halloween parties) you may be seeing for some quick and easy Halloween party snacks to have ready for kids, visitors, guests, and freeloading adult friends during the Halloween season.

Looking for some new ideas for festive snacks that don't take a hundred years (or work your fingers to the bone) to put together? The ten Halloween party snack ideas below are lots of fun, uncomplicated to make... And some of them are even healthy!

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

1. Rotting Eyes and Severed Fingers

This is a very healthy but rather creepy Halloween party snack that makes good use of black olives and baby carrots. Dispose the black olives and baby carrots on a party tray with a bowl of your favorite dip (I like a cream cheese veggie dip). Forewarn your party guests that the tray is filled with rotting black eyes and severed fingers. And then watch this snack disappear. A good way to get your kids excited about veggies!

2. Jack o' light Oranges

This healthy treat is so easy to make, and looks so pretty! Carve jack-o'-lantern faces into oranges and place on a platter. The kids will love it. And they can help, too, without ever having to pick up a knife. Have them simply draw the faces on with a black marker, and carve them yourself. Or don't worry about carving them-- they look just as good with faces drawn on.

As a divergence of this fun Halloween party snack, I like to hollow out an orange with a Jack o' light face and fill it with fruit salad. Healthy, easy and quick!

3. Easy Bugs in the Bone Yard

This is such a fun Halloween snack for the kiddos. All you have to do? Sprinkle raisins into a bowl full of white-chocolate covered pretzels. (You could also use chocolate covered raisins.) Kids will eat them up once they learn the name of this snack. Or they'd eat it up anyway, since this mix tastes divine.

4. Slimy Halloween Jigglers

You know those Jello jiggler molds? They work great for Halloween! whether use whatever you have lying around the house, or go out and pick up a brain or a heart-shaped Jello mold. Make up a batch of orange, black, purple, or flesh-colored Jello and pour into your mold(s). Or make a flat pan of Jello and cut out shapes with Halloween cookie cutters instead.

5. Ghost Cereal Bars

Prepare a batch of the Rice Krispies marshmallow treats method on the back of the cereal box. When the compound has set up, cut out shapes with ghost shaped cookie cutter. Pour warm white frosting or melted white chocolate over the shapes to cover. Add M&M eyes and mouth. A yummy and easy Halloween party snack.

6. Green Gelatin Intestines

This is one of the grosser seeing Halloween party snacks. Make lime gelatin and add pineapple bits, chopped marshmallows, sliced bananas and mandarin oranges. Pour gelatin compound into an angel food cake pan and let set up. Invert pan to remove gelatin mold. Slice the mold horizontally into about 5 layers. Slice the layers in half and Dispose on a platter in semi-circles to look like intestines. Gross!

7. Spooky healthy Eyeballs

This Halloween party snack is both easy and healthy. Wash a bunch of green grapes. Insert a raisin into the stem end of the grapes and frost them all until ready to serve.

8. Monster Crackers

Color some white vegetable spread or cream cheese with green food coloring and spread on your favorite crackers. Dispose small bits of green and red bell peppers to make a green-eyed, red-mouthed cracker monster. Use small amounts of broccoli sprouts to make the monster hair. A sneaky way to get kids eating their veggies.

9. Wormy Halloween Punch Recipe

No respectable Halloween party snack list would do with out having this squeamish punch. Just make green Kool-Aid and put in a clear glass punch bowl. Set the punch bowl on top of a glow necklace so the light shines through the punch bowl. Add some gummy worms and watch the kids squirm when they see it.

10. Vampire Blood

You use V8 juice for this one so it is healthier than the wormy punch above. Pour the V8 juice in a clear photograph that you have labeled as "Vampire Blood." For an adult party, add the ingredients for a bloody Mary, if you like. For a kids' party, well... Good luck getting them to try it. It is V8, after all!

Fun Gangster Themed Party Invitations

This party season continues to see the Gangster theme near the top of the popularity charts. And with Valentines just around the corner combined with the unceasing popularity of the Gangster Movie it's easy to see why this theme continues to capture the imagination.

So if you're thinking of planning a gangster themed party, it's time to dust off the violin case, dig out your flapper beads or spats and send out an invitation that no-one will be able to resist.

YO GABBA GABBA

Fun ideas for your Gangster Party Invitations

The Speakeasy Invitation

The Speakeasy was a secret location where prohibition beating booze parties were held and was the home of the Flapper. Kept secret for obvious legal reasons, an invitation to a Speakeasy would be expected to be in code. Using code is a fantastic way of preparing invitations but it does need careful planning. Easiest method is to detail everything the invitation is to contain, we would suggest that it include; the name of guest, name of party giver, date, location and start time. This is a minimum information required for any invitation and don't forget to include to note if you want everyone to dress up.

Having gathered all of the information you want to include the next step is to encode it. How you construct the code and how complicated you make it will depend, to a large part, on the age of the guests. Across all age groups visual clues always work and puzzle books will provide you with plenty of examples to follow. The code should be fairly easy to decipher and you should always include the correct answer on the back of the invitation.

Speakeasy or 'The Warehouse' Location Invitation

This is based on the old treasure map invitation where you draw a stylised map of the area surrounding the party venue. Use plenty of Gangster symbols and naming - like warehouses, Italian Restaurants, Nightclubs and have a large curved arrow pointing to the position on the map where the party is to be held. As an option you could include the party details into the map in gangster talk like; 'you've had this coming for a long time', 'now you're going to get it' etc.

As with all clue based invitations, be careful to ensure you include enough real information and the solution to the map should be included on the back.

The Hostage Invitation

These take a considerable time to prepare although the advent of the computer has really come to the assistance of party hosts. Either cut the individual letters from newspapers and then use different sizes mixed and stuck to paper to create the invitation. This is the old school method but produces the best results. The modern way would be to download a font (Google 'free fonts') and then create your invitation electronically. This has the benefit of being far quicker and ultimately cleaner than the old school method.

For either method, you could start with the fact that the party is being held hostage and that to free it, guests are required to attend and are also required to pay a ransom of a bottle of bootleg hooch.

These are tried and tested Gangster themed party invitation ideas and here are some additional tips to make them even more successful. All of these invitations are based on disclosing a secret party venue so they should be kept in keeping with this and should look a little tatty and crumpled. They look great on scraps of paper rather than on square cut fresh stock. A great tip for aging new paper stock is to stain it in a weak solution of tea and then leaving a few (not too many) coffee granules to add darker spots - these will spread with the dampness in the paper. When dry, crumple and tear as required.

If it's an invite to a St Valentine's Day massacre then you could add a few drops of fake blood fluid to the paper as it dries to achieve the ultimate Gangster effect or for a very simple idea you could cutout the template of a machine gun from black card and use a silver gel pen to create the invitation.

Having spent the time to create great looking invitations, don't spoil it by giving them out in plain envelopes. Use your imagination to decorate standard envelops; the theme of this decoration will depend on the overall theme of your party. If you are using the St Valentines Day Massacre, you could apply 'crime scene - do not cross' tape to the envelop or alternatively for a speakeasy theme you could scent the envelope with some whiskey or brandy and perhaps add a feather or small length of flapper beads.

Or, if you can afford to do it, buy an old violin case and a machine gun shaped purse (handbag) and keep the invitations inside the purse and keep the purse inside the violin case, the when you give the invitations out you will be opening the case and taking the machine gun purse out - just like the stylized black and white movies - before you reveal the invitation. And both accessories will be valuable for the party.

Also remember that a great Gangster themed party requires great Gangster themed fancy dress costumes and accessories. These are readily available in stores or alternatively through the internet from either specialist Gangster themed websites or from general fancy dress costume providers.

Lastly, whatever invitation style you choose and however you hand them out you will be getting the party off to a great start by building a sense of excitement, after all, if this is how good the invites are, how great will the party be..... Have a great time.

Of course, you need to theme your event to adapt your crowd.

Halloween Food For Kids Parties: Some Kid-Approved Ideas

If you are having a holiday event with children, you'll need a menu that will be fun, in addition to one that they will eat. Here are some ideas for Halloween food for kids parties.

In keeping with the holiday theme, you'll want to make dishes that are scary, gross, or related to Halloween characters, such as witches, bats, vampires, and mummies. But you need to be sure it's not so gross that the kids won't eat it. If it looks too much like the real thing, and they don't know what it really is, they are unlikely to try it.

YO GABBA GABBA

So it's better to stick with cuter, rather than scarier, items. This depends on the age of the children, of course. Very young children, and tweens, will eat almost anything. But when you get to the age where seeing is believing, and logic doesn't make much sense, you can get into trouble.

Here are some safe options that kids will love.

Ghost Toast

These are simple open-faced cheese sandwiches. Spread some mayo, mustard, or butter on one slice of bread. Top with a single slice of cheese trimmed into a ghost shape. Use olive slices for eyes.

If you want to turn it into a grilled cheese sandwich, place it in a sauté pan with some olive oil, on medium-high heat. Leave the cheese side facing up. When it smells like toast, it's done. The underside should be a golden brown color.

Bloody Soup

This one is super simple. Just make a pot of your favorite tomato soup. It goes great with cheese sandwiches, or any other kid-friendly sandwich or hot dog type of item. Be sure to call it Bloody Soup. Ghost Toast with Tomato Soup just doesn't have that spooky ring to it!

To make this even more dramatic, see if you can find some sort of Halloween-themed cups or bowls to serve them out of. Presentation can add to the mood. Try floating some croutons in it and calling them bones.

Jack-O-Lantern Cookies

For dessert, you can combine arts and crafts with food and fun. Use sugar cookies in the shape of pumpkins. Simple circles or ovals will do if you don't have anything special. Then use orange icing to spread on top, and sprinkles or darker frosting or icing to make designs.

This can be used as an incentive for fussy eaters to finish their food. They won't be able to make their pumpkin cookies until they've eaten their meal.

These are just a few very basic, simple ideas for Halloween food for kids parties. They are kid tested and approved, and delicious, too. Have a spook-tacular holiday!

1. Using the right amount of shorting will prevent the frosting sheet from slipping or bunching up when being cut. Use a pastry brush and apply a thin transparent sheet on the cutting mat. If the shorting gets to warm just put the mat in the freezer for a couple of minutes. Make sure you apply shorting to the back of the frosting sheet as well as the mat, smoothing out all air bubbles.

2. Since you can not re-roll frosting sheets you will want to make every inch count. As long as the left over sheet is larger than 3" x 3" it is safe to reuse.

3. Always keep your cut shapes in a sealed bag until you are ready to use them to prevent them from drying out.

4. Never use flour when working with gum paste. Using cornstarch and powdered sugar will help your designs slide and stick.

5. For best results use gel based food coloring instead of the liquid food coloring drops when making edible cake decorations.

Medieval Knight Costume - Create Your Own

Dressing in a medieval knight costume for a night is perhaps one of the wildest dreams of almost every man. Saving a damsel in distress or a princess is generally the scenario of knights to the rescue of their greatest love.

But how are you going to play a knight, if you're not familiar as to how you can create your own medieval costume? Worry no more.

YO GABBA GABBA

Your dream of becoming a knight will surely come to reality with these simple steps in creating your own medieval gear:

1. Medieval Clothing for a Knight

The most common of all medieval knight costumes is a long sleeved top. However, this is not the usual long white sleeve but a more striking, glittery, and stunning couture. Apart from the long sleeve that comes in various rich colors, a knight costume also comprise of velvet, leather, or linen tunic that is worn on top of the long sleeved garb.

Some also have the lion heart tunic and gambeson embroidered on their clothes to match up with either velvet or courtly pants. Of course, the entire outfit won't be complete without a knight cape, robe or hood.

2. Knight Weapons, Armor, and Accessories

As part of the medieval knight costume, creating a sword replica would be best. You can mimic the sword of King Henry or the Vikings and look for materials that will make up a sword-like appearance.

You can also create your own knight armor. Making a breastplate of your own or gauntlets as sheer protection for the forearms, whether an embossed gauntlet or etched steel, will help you change the entire look of your costume.

Making your own medieval knight costume can be a lot of fun. All you need is some artistic creativity and a little imagination to come up with a believeable medieval knight ensemble.

Turning 50 and having a birthday party can be the most fun celebration you've had in years! With these 50th birthday party themes, your birthday is sure to be a blast!

1. "Aged to perfection at 50," is one of these 50th birthday party themes that can send out the message that you are proud to celebrate your birthday at 50. To throw a party in this theme, you may display and/or serve some items that are actually better as they get older, like wine and cheese for example.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Moreover, if you have an antique collection and some vintage items then these will come in handy for the party. You may also ask your guests to come in vintage attire and play some timeless music that will be enjoyed by everyone.

Choose some sort of a flashback theme among a number of 50th birthday party themes, and celebrate with memories of the past. You can do this by incorporating a certain period or era (1920's, 30's, 40's, 50's, etc.) in your party and ask your guests to come in clothes that reflect the said time in the past.

In addition, you may actually even ask them to share some stories from the past and reminisce the good old times.

2. Not all 50th birthday party themes need be old or serious, you may be as hip and as modern as you want and actually turn it into some laughs. To do this, ask your guests to come in clothes that teenagers and young people wear now, and have fun portraying the youth of today.

Make this party more fun by playing some hip hop or pop music, and see you and your guests will dance to modern music. Don't forget to take some pictures and video!

3. Adopt the Guinness World Record party theme. Among the 50th birthday party themes, this one belongs to the category that involves teamwork. You and your guests will hope to break some Guinness world record, such as making the biggest banana split or something.

What record you plan on beating is all up to you and your guests; just make sure you guys can enjoy the act of defeating the record.

Survivor Party Games, It's a Team Thing

Survivor is very popular for testing the bonds of a team. In these survivor party games, teams will work together to achieve a task.

The first game has each team cooperating to keep a ball in the air and off the ground. Have each member of the team grab an edge of a towel or blanket. Place a beach ball in the middle. After "Ready, Set, Go!" each team will bump their ball into the air by lifting the blanket quickly on their edge. The goal of the game is to get as many "bumps" as inherent in the time given without letting the ball touch the ground. This means you undoubtedly have to work together!

Another fun survivor party game that challenges the mind is called "Stranded on an Island.." Players sit in a circle with the party someone going first. They will say "If I were stranded on an island, I would hope to have...." and then name something that begins with "A" that would be helpful to have on an island. (An ax, for example.) The next someone in line repeats the full line, the word beginning with "A," and a new word beginning with "B." Play continues around the circle until someone can't remember one of the words. They are out of the circle and play continues, skipping them. The survivor of this game is the last one in the circle.

Stick with the Survivor party theme throughout the event. Hand out buffs for party favors. Dvd of the show Survivor are great for game prizes.

Thanksgiving Grace

One of the traditions of the Thanksgiving Holiday is the concept of offering grace or giving thanks for what you have. Some are simple and nondenominational:

For each new morning with its light,

PARTY DECORATIONS

For rest and shelter of the night,

For health and food,

For love and friends,

For everything Thy goodness sends.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Others are much more complex and contain more emotion:

Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord,

All praise is Yours, all glory, honor and blessings.

To you alone, Most High, do they belong;

no mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your Name.

We praise You, Lord, for all Your creatures,

especially for Brother Sun,

who is the day through whom You give us light.

And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor,

of You Most High, he bears your likeness.

We praise You, Lord, for Sister Moon and the stars,

in the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair.

We praise You, Lord, for Brothers Wind and Air,

fair and stormy, all weather's moods,

by which You cherish all that You have made.

We praise You, Lord, for Sister Water,

so useful, humble, precious and pure.

We praise You, Lord, for Brother Fire,

through whom You light the night.

He is beautiful, playful, robust, and strong.

We praise You, Lord, for Sister Earth,

who sustains us

with her fruits, colored flowers, and herbs.

We praise You, Lord, for those who pardon,

for love of You bear sickness and trial.

Blessed are those who endure in peace,

by You Most High, they will be crowned.

We praise You, Lord, for Sister Death,

from whom no-one living can escape.

Woe to those who die in their sins!

Blessed are those that She finds doing Your Will.

No second death can do them harm.

We praise and bless You, Lord, and give You thanks,

and serve You in all humility.

-St. Francis of Assisi

Ultimately, however, the basic concept of offering a Thanksgiving Grace remains the same regardless of religious and ethnic backgrounds in that the purpose is to acknowledge the blessings that you have received throughout your life (or the past year).

O God, when I have food,

help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work,

help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home,

help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain,

help me to remember those who suffer,

And remembering,

help me to destroy my complacency;

bestir my compassion,

and be concerned enough to help;

By word and deed,

those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Amen.

Party Supplies - What You Need For the Birthday and Theme Party

The success of a party depends on whether the host has planned out the party to the best or not. Planning will include all the necessary things needed to make the fun happen. Getting the right gears for the party is important so the rest of the article is dedicated to give you to this most intriguing question on earth.

A celebration that is simple and among closest family members will not require too much effort when compared to the one where you have to invite almost the whole neighborhood. For a massive event, you have to carefully plan because it will involve larger funds. To avoid wastage or unnecessary spending, you ought to figure out way ahead for the party. You need to identify the types of supplies you will need and make sure it varied and within your budget. This also includes catering.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Birthday parties can be a straight forward one or a themed party. They will need similar types of supplies but different in a few ways.

The birthday party supplies you need are:

- Invitations. These are strictly optional although they are pretty common at children's parties as it adds to the excitement of an anticipated good time.

- Cake. This is the integral part of the celebrations, no matter the age. Somehow, a birthday party without a birthday cake seems incomplete.

- A party pack is something for the guests to take home. They are usually filled with delightful and adorable stuffs like hats, small toys and candies. The reasons why people are given party packs are to remind them of the great time they had at the party.

- Party props are only required if you are holding a themed birthday party. The most common props you will find are poppers, hats, confetti and streamers.

- Tableware. Whether or not to use casual or formal tableware (as in disposable paper plates and cups versus porcelain ones) is a personal choice and depends on the elaborateness of the celebration.

- Food and beverage will depend on the age of the guests at the party. You will have to decide whether your guests will be comfortable with a small buffet, sit down dinner (usually for small number of guests) or finger food served. There should always be alcoholic beverages when you are catering to adults. Never forget that you should include plain water as it helps with digestions and dehydration.

- Decoration will cover a whole lot of matter. They include ceilings, walls, entrance, tables, chairs and for outdoor parties, locations. What you will need are banners, flowers (with arrangements), balloons, furniture, plants and the list goes on.

Its easier to shop for general birthday party supplies. You need not stick to a specific theme or color. All you need to do is customize the things according to the age of the person celebrating the birthday.

Party with a theme will require you to put a little more effort into. For making Hawaiian Luau, Halloween Nights, Military Nights or Celebrity Evenings come true; you will need the other themed supplies besides the usual. You need your creativity and resourcefulness to play their part in making this party happen.

To make a themed party come more alive, the apparels should not be ignored. Hats, helmets, bell bottom pants will contribute to the air of the theme. Without apparels for a themed party, the party will seem mundane. The host can also play a part in keeping the theme alive. As a host, you can give out a few theme party supplies for the theme like pumpkins, cowboy hats or even grass skirts.

Another important theme party supply is themed decoration. No matter what the theme, the appropriate décor will make the event a success. A Hawaiian luau, for instance, will require an Aloha banner while Retro Nights will need the shiny disco ball to create the right atmosphere. This helps put everyone in the mood to really get into the swing of things.

Giving a great party is priceless. It is undeniable that decorations and party ware are important. Nevertheless there is still another thing that is more important than throwing a successful party, a safe party.

Sweet 16 Birthday Cake Ideas

A sixteenth birthday is always special. A 16-year-old is a class on his own - he or she is no longer considered a child, but is not an adult quite yet. This makes the planning for the birthday party hard, since you wouldn't want it to look like a children's party, but you don't want it to be too "adult" as well. Here are some sweet 16 birthday cake ideas that you can use.

Since the celebrant is young, color themes should also be young. Cake colors should be light, such as cream, pink, yellow and peach. Light blue shades as well as lilac and lavender may also be used. The colors and cake design must match the theme of the party. A layered fondant cake with pink or peach flower trimmings is ideal for parties with a costume ball theme. Celebrant can look like a princess with a balloon pink gown and tiara, and guests would wear costumes.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Another cake idea for the princess theme is to make small cupcakes and put them in a multi-layered cake stand. Trim them with little flowers made of icing. When arranged well, the cakes would look like little pots of flowers in a flower garden. You can use one color, or mixed pastel shades of pink, yellow and light orange. This cake would also be perfect if the party has a ballerina theme. A fairy theme would also be nice, with guests carrying wands and wearing shimmering pink wings.

With small round cupcakes, put colored frosting on top and arrange them so the cake would look like bubbles or balloons. This would look cute for a children's party theme, where guests can dress up like little kids. Instead of round cupcakes, you can also make square or rectangular ones, and decorate each with colored frosting to make them look like tiny gift boxes. With a little creativity, have fun with a frosting bag and create patterns to simulate gift wrapping paper and ribbons. Or you can decorate them to look like little colored trucks or cars. This cake idea can be used for any party theme.

For large parties, 16 photo cakes can be arranged to make a photo album cake. Photos of the celebrant from age 1 to 16 can be placed on each cake. Wouldn't it be fun for guests to see how the celebrant has grown and changed through the years?

So the next time someone turns sweet 16, finding birthday cake ideas should not be that difficult. You can browse through the internet and find pictures so you can show them to your baker. At this day and age, virtually any cake design is possible. So use your imagination, and be amazed at where it will take you.

Oktoberfest Party Menu Ideas for a Fun-Filled Oktoberfest Party

Oktoberfest, while it insinuates an October celebration, is actually celebrated in September. Food, beer, fun, beer, music and beer are the highlights. Here are some food ideas to get your party started:

You will find the German tradition offers many good items on the menu from all kinds of beer to bratwurst and many other types of sausage. If you are interested in recipes for Oktoberfest then you will want to understand the full menu you might find at an Oktoberfest party. Here are a few ideas:

PARTY DECORATIONS

You may find homemade pretzels, canapés, Lowenbrau bratwurst, Rye bread Crostini, German potato salad, red cabbage with Bavarian smoked cheese, braised pork with a horseradish sauce, dark beer marinated chicken, and strudel. And that's just the tip of the iceberg! Food plays as much of a role in Oktoberfest as beer, and as such, sharing delicious food with your guests is a must.

Spaetzeles are another primary menu item for Oktoberfest. Spatzen are tiny dumplings. You will need 4 eggs, ½ egg shell of water for each egg used, flour to make a thick batter, and a pinch of salt. You will combine the water and eggs together then add the flour gradually. You will need to rest the batter between whisking several times. The idea is to make a thick batter that you can push through a Spaetzel maker into boiling water. When the Spaetzel begins to float you will lift them out of the boiling water and cover with a buttered crumb topping. You can have Spaetzel as a side dish with Sauerbraten.

Sauerbraten is another traditional German recipe you will find during Oktoberfest depending on where you are. Sauerbraten combines a roast with vegetables, cider vinegar, brown sugar, and sour cream for a wonderful dish. The flavor may seem a little sour, but you will get used to it especially if combined with Spaetzel.

Whatever you serve at your Oktoberfest function, though, sharing it with friends and having a great time together is the most important thing of all.
