Consider Going "Green" For Your Bar, Bat Mitzvah Or Other Event - Table Centerpieces And Decorations

Some families have gone away from disposable items to decorate their Bar and Bat Mitzvah events. Instead they choose to donate centerpiece items to charities and worthy causes. Gift baskets filled with donation items are another alternative for both Bemah (raised platform in a Synagogue) baskets and centerpieces.

pirate party decorations

Our daughter was a Bat Mitzvah in 1993. I bought some dolls and crocheted outfits for each one of them. Every one had a different colored dress and hat. We used them as table centerpiece decorations, as well as associated place cards for seating our guests. We placed a small note on each table telling our plans to donate the centerpieces and asking that they be left in place.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Shortly after the party we brought the dolls to a local children's hospital. The girls were delighted to receive the dolls as presents. The joy of the party celebration ran over to the recipients and to us as well.

I do not suggest you spend two years making doll outfits as I did. However, here are some product ideas which can be donated to use on your centerpieces. You can also consider gift baskets in place of flowers to decorate the Bemah at your service or as a centerpiece.

Food is always a popular consideration for your table centerpieces and Bemah baskets as well, especially in these days. Food pantries accept donations of long life shelf items such as canned goods - fruits, vegetables, meats, milks, juices, etc. Paper (facial, toilet tissue and towels) goods, boxed cereals, rice, and noodles are also accepted. Baby formula, diapers, baby food, and other infant products are also a consideration.

You might contact the local food pantry or nearby charitable agency to determine current needs before you decide. My husband volunteered for several years at a food pantry and there are times when they run short of certain items, and other times when they are inundated.

Other items we have used in either centerpieces or Bemah baskets, or you might consider include stuffed animals, books, CDs and DVDs, crayons, coloring books, and other art items. Board games and puzzles as well as electronic games, bats, balls and baseball gloves, footballs and soccer balls, as well as other sporting equipment can also be used.

Going "green" is a popular ecological movement nowadays. To us it means doing things that are of benefit to the earth and mankind. This movement has been afloat in the Bar and Bat Mitzvah scene for a while. Perhaps it will fit into your party planning plans as well.

Zinc Supplement For ADHD Found to Be Effective to Improve Concentration in Children

Two decades of research indicate that a zinc supplement for ADHD is an effective treatment for hyperactivity. Zinc for ADHD children and adolescents' improve mental performance as indicated in a recent study at the USDA's Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center in North Dakota.

Dr. Penland noted in his study that word recognition and attention improved in the group who received 20 milligrams of zinc. The study was the first to demonstrate zinc's effect on mental performance in adolescents, who are particularly at risk of deficiency due to rapid growth and poor dietary habits.

In another study conducted by K. L. Harding and colleagues, children were given dietary supplements consisting of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and other nutrients. The researchers found that "the effect of Ritalin versus dietary supplement treatment was found to be essentially the same, and both treatments were found to be effective after four weeks of use."

Zinc for ADHD children is essential to healthy brain function and helps the body form proteins. An excellent source of zinc can be found in oysters. Other sources include red meat, liver, seafood, peanuts, whole wheat products and popcorn. Some vegetables also contain zinc, but nutritionists say it not absorbed as well by the body.

Researcher Bernard Rimland, commenting on another study, says, "The improvement seen in these children in just 12 weeks is particularly remarkable given that hyperactive children who are deficient in zinc are likely to be deficient in other nutrients, such as magnesium, as well. Giving these children adequate supplements of all essential nutrients is likely to be vastly more beneficial than merely giving one nutrient, and should be tried in place of drug treatment."

In addition, adding a multi vitamin, B complex, Calcium/Magnesium, Gabba, and/or Vitamin C may help to reduce symptoms of ADHD. Zinc is also a cofactor for production of neurotransmitters, fatty acids, prostaglandins, and melatonin. Use good fats like olive oil, fish oil, canola oil and flaxseed oil and reduce all other fats. Add essential fatty acid (EFA) supplements (as in fish oil, flaxseed oil, or primrose oil).

Your next step? To take what you've just learned and try zinc supplement for ADHD. Combined with good nutrition and a good multi vitamin can be a highly effective treatment for ADHD. You will have real, long term results. Make sure to eliminate sugars and artificial sweeteners and cut any possible allergens out of his diet. Make sure your child is getting plenty of exercise.

Believe me. These simple steps will help your child achieve permanent recovery. The greatest thing about natural treatment is that it doesn't cost much and it is 100% safe. Prescription drugs on the other hand are expensive and have dangerous side effects. It won't take you long to see how much healthier and happier your child can really be if you give homeopathy and lifestyle improvement a try.

The Fresh Beat Band - Nick Jrs Popular Show

Nick Jr. and Sprout have the best shows for kids. The Wiggles and Yo Gabba Gabba are probably my daughter's favorites, but she just discovered The Fresh Beat Band, and now that has taken all precedence. Her exact words were, "I like this show because of the music, and I like Kiki. She looks like me." She doesn't really look like Kiki, but in her eyes if she does because of the same hair color, so be it. I think it's awesome that she can relate to a character on television who is a positive role model.

yo gabba gabba costumes for adults

For those of you who are not familiar with The Fresh Beat Band, it is a show about four teens named Kiki, Marina, Twist, and Shout who go to music school together. They all play musical instruments, and they know how to get your kids moving with their dancing. In each episode, they encounter a problem but they work together to find a solution. During the process of it all, they sing pop songs and dance. The lyrics are catchy and easy to follow, and it's just a fun and educational show to watch. It might not teach your child the alphabet or the colors like Mickey Mouse or Sesame Street, but it does reinforce teamwork and being active.

YO GABBA GABBA

It's geared towards preschoolers, but I know some of my older nephews and nieces who are in grade school follow them. If they're all together in one house, and I turn on The Fresh Beat Band, they will start running to the toy bin to grab an instrument like the guitar, microphone, or drums. It's also a show where parents won't get easily annoyed. I can attest to this because I find myself humming along to the songs. It beats watching SpongeBob or Dora! Nick Jr. has also had famous guests featured in some of the episodes. In the "Band in a Jam" episode, pop star Ne-Yo performed his famous song "One in a Million" as well as the opening theme to The Fresh Beat Band.

The Fresh Beat Band are played by actors who really do play the musical instruments that their character plays. It's not fake acting. Kiki, played by Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, can play the guitar and violin. Twist's main interest, played by Jon Beavers, is hip-hop and is the DJ, rapper, and beat boxer in the show. Marina, played by Tara Perry (formerly Shayna Rose) can play the drums. Lastly, Shout, played by Thomas Hobbson can play the piano. It's great to know the four bandmates are all musically talented in real life.

What would be great to see is if The Fresh Beat Band will go on tour. Yo Gabba Gabba is touring in my hometown this year, and so I'm hoping Nick Jr. will have The FBB go on tour as well. I think the young kids and their older siblings will equally be excited especially because the majority of the actors are still in their 20s. They will be able to relate to actual people performing instead of costumed characters. How awesome would it be to have famous singers collaborate with them too just like Ne-Yo did.

Who Wants to Wear an Abba Costume?

If you are organizing a party on the disco theme or attending one, the sure way of ensuring you are the king or queen of the party, wear an Abba costume. Abba costumes are extravagant outfits worn by the members of the band were as paramount in the 70s as they are today!

yo gabba gabba party decorations

Agneta's white dress with frills or Frida's spangled mini-skirt from the first Abba tour is sure to make heads turn. When it came to disco dressing at its best, no other band could outdo the Abba costumes. The cat suits that the Abba band members wore to tours were nothing but fabulous. Unblemished the look with a funky belt and a wig. A long blonde wig with fringes is ideal if you want the Abba look. If blonde is not your look, how about Frida's look with a roxy red wig for the greatest style quotient at your party?

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

The men would look like today's disco kings with the Abba male shirts. The silver and blue patterned shirt with a matching belt for your trousers and you are Benny or Bjorn. Dress up in these Abba costumes, don a wig that suits you and impress with "Do you want to be having the time of your life? Well, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!" All you guys out there can add the man's Abba wig and watch yourself being transformed into the life of the party.

Want to take it one step further? You could be adventurous and add an inflated guitar to your attire while you strum away paramount Abba songs like the " money, money, money...its so funny..!" Abba costumes are not just for Disco enthusiasts, anybody who loves the 70s, that era of melodious music and meaningful lyrics knows and loves the Abba. Their gorgeous music, happy merge image has been always well perceived, so if you want to be the happy merge out to have fun at a friend's party or at a Halloween party, put on your best Abba costume. However, for that satin Abba look, you have to determine a good budget. Abba costumes do not come cheap.

Buy a green, blue, fuchsia or silver shiny pantsuit highlighted with gold. Typical Abba costumes come with long sleeved shirts and dresses featuring giant bells extending from the elbows; the collars are high and fold over. The bodice is adorned with lace on the front and is completed with a wide and large belt. The pants have three layered ruffles below the knee. An Abba costume is an account for affair and probably that is why it is priced high. But what is a few extra dollars when they can make you the queen of the party?

You could even make your own Abba costumes. It does not have to be white polyester, though white ruffles on shiny suits is always an Abba or an Elvis. Buy a wig which would be right on difficult to get right on your own. If you go through vintage shops, you are bound to find something easily, holding in mind not all Abba costumes need to be color coordinated. Loose flowy top or shirts for men over mini skirts or bell bottoms will do for starters. Add colored bands for wide belts and matching appliqués. Big shoes or boots, a Swedish accent, melody in your voice and you are ready to hit the party!

Smurfs Birthday Party Ideas - How to Plan a Smurfs Party Without Spending a Lot of Money

Are you planning a Smurfs Birthday Party? This article will tell you how to plan a Smurfs party without spending a lot of money. I've included money-saving ideas for your party invitations, room decorations, games, prizes & favors, party food, and birthday cake. You will be surprised at how easy it is...just think blue!

luau party decorations

For the invitations... start planning your party about a month in advance or at least two weeks. Purchase pre-made Smurf themed invitations or make your own out of construction paper. A fun idea is to suggest that your guest to wear blue!

PARTY DECORATIONS

For the decorations... you can decorate for a Smurfs party very inexpensively by using lots of blue balloons and blue streamers. Set around any Smurfs toys you might already have. Hang a Smurfs movie poster on the wall and later move it to your child's room. They will love it!

For the table... more blue. Blue colored paper plates, napkins, cups, and plastic tablecover can be purchased very cheaply at most discount stores. If you don't mind spending a little extra, purchase Smurfs themed party plates, napkins, tablecover, etc. As an alternative, use just the themed napkins with solid plates, of just the tablecover with solid plates & napkins. The themed paper plates are sold by the 8 count, so depending on how many guest you have, it can get rather expensive. I've sometimes used the themed plates only to serve the birthday cake. Even though they do cost more, the themed partyware does add to the decorations and the birthday child will love it!

For the party games... decide on only one or two basic party games. Pin the Tail on the Donkey is always a favorite. Hot Potato, played using a blue ball or Smurf doll would make a fun game. And, of course, a pinata is always a good idea.

For the game prizes or favors... use Smurfs stickers, tattoos, coloring books, books, and small blue balls, etc.

For the party food... you guessed it...more blue! What do Smurfs eat? Smurfberries, of course! Along with other party foods, add some "blue food" choices. Blueberries and blue jello w/ cool whip topping are a couple of my favorite ideas. Goldfish crackers are also theme appropriate. Choose some type of blue drink, along with a couple of other drink choices.

Last, but not least is the Birthday cake... If you'd like to save money and make your own cake, purchase a couple of Smurf figures (These can double as a gift!) to place on a homemade or bought cake. If possible, use blue icing for the border or make all of the icing blue. Most bakeries will have the Smurf themed cakes available, but be sure and order early. I always like to serve party mints and cocktail peanuts with the cake and ice cream.

In summary... It's really pretty simple to plan a fun Smurfs party for kids without spending a lot of money! Send out homemade invitations inviting your guest to wear blue to your party. Decorate with blue tableware and lots of blue balloons. Play a few fun games and finish up with a Smurfs themed birthday cake (that you can easily make yourself) and ice cream (blue ice cream?). Don't forget to take plenty of pictures! I hope these ideas have helped you plan your party!

Why Sports Fans May Choose a Tiki Village Timeshare

Built in the region of Surfer's Paradise on Queensland's Gold Coast, the location is a fair clue to why sport and leisure fanatics may find a Tiki Village timeshare resort to be their kind of place. The Gold Coast is a real attraction for holidaymakers who are interested in purchasing an Australia timeshare, with the water sports on offer being a particular attraction.

yo gabba gabba costumes for adults

This particular resort sits a mere 400 metres from the famous gate to Surfer's Paradise, a beach that is much-heralded for its fantastic surfing conditions and gorgeous sandy seafront. Set against a backdrop of stunning skyscrapers and thriving beachfront markets, the beach is an immensely popular destination for both tourists and locals alike. Tiki Village Timeshare Resort itself faces out over the shores of the Nerang River, offering views of an increasingly thriving area that has become something of a hub of Gold Coast tourism.

YO GABBA GABBA

In addition to world-class surfing, this area of the east coast is also great for a range of other water sports, which has helped to secure it a fine reputation amongst the Australia timeshare community. Jet skiing and motorboat hire are particularly popular, but if you prefer to just sit back and absorb the rays, then the Quicksilver Pro-Surfing Competition in March is certainly an attraction, with top-level athletes riding the waves in true style. From the comfort of the Tiki Village timeshare resort, visitors can enjoy the slightly more placid waters of a large pool area, complete with whirlpool, sauna and stylish bar.

Just up the road in Brisbane, there is much more for sports fans to enjoy. As one of the largest cities in the country, it plays host to many national and international sporting events. The two most well-known stadiums in the city are the Gabba and The Suncorp Stadium, which between them, seat a total of almost 100,000 people. Spectacularly designed, the two grounds primarily feature five different sports: Rugby League, Rugby Union, Football, Cricket and Aussie Rules Football.

Of the teams that represent the city and/or the state, it is probably soccer team the Brisbane Roar who have enjoyed the most recent success, having won the 2010-2011 A-League with an unbeaten record, allowing them entry into the 2012 Asian Champions League. Their home at The Suncorp Stadium is easily accessible from the Tiki Village timeshare resort and the passion of the regional fans at every sporting event, particularly international cricket at The Gabba, is something that all Australia timeshare holders will enjoy experiencing.

3 Good Reasons Why an ADHD Natural Supplement Rocks

When you read horrible things like a child dying from an overdose of ADHD meds, or other children at risk of addiction, you begin to wonder why some of these medications are allowed at all by the FDA. That is the reason why more and more parents now are turning to an ADHD natural supplement. Here are three good reasons why an ADHD natural supplement could be the answer to your child's ADHD problem.

yo gabba gabba

One good reason is that if your child is given these supplements, he or she will never have appetite problems nor will they suffer from any other side effects. I know one parent who watched her son practically fade away before her eyes, as the prescription medicines he was on was affecting his appetite. He had been on Ritalin and Dexedrine and was then was put on Adderall. Then his mother shouted stop.

YO GABBA GABBA

The second good reason for choosing this type of treatment is that hyperactivity, restlessness and even inattention can all be relieved without having to worry about the long term risks or that your child is on a Class II type drug which is basically an amphetamine.

There will be no need to have heart check ups either and you will never have to worry about giving the dose at the right time so that he does not fall asleep at school. Neither will you have any nightmares about your kid selling his drugs on the school parking lot.

The third good reason is that there are several natural supplements for ADHD which are effective in reducing impulsivity and increasing focus and concentration. Some of these supplements are Kava Kava, Vitamin B, Gabba, St. John's Wort and Gingko Biloba.

Gingko biloba is very effective in improving the blood circulation in the brain and that means more oxygen. This helps the ADHD child to focus and be calmer.

An excellent ADHD natural supplement is Skullcap. It is known to be very effective in reducing anxiety and helps to calm the nervous system.

These natural supplements for ADHD do the same job as the powerful psychostimulants and there are no side effects and they are much cheaper. Despite the fact that the drug companies have actually paid for research to discredit these cures, parents are becoming more savvy and are beginning to ask awkward questions.

Why not click through and discover why an ADHD natural supplement is a much safer and more effective option all round.

Christmas Yard Decorations - Steps to Convert Your Simple Yard Into a Party Place

Christmas is the best time of the year to unleash your creativity and decorate your house, including the yard, like none other. This is the time when even the most simple of yards can be completely transformed into a place fit to party. Christmas yard decorations pep up the festive spirit of Christmas. Converting the yard of your house into a festive place is a simple task that can be accomplished in a short span of time, if you follow a series of simple steps.

party decorations cheap

Step #1: Decide on the theme

PARTY DECORATIONS

There are various themes you can base the Christmas yard decorations on. However, you will have to ensure that whatever theme you choose, it should be centered on Christmas celebrations. You can choose to decorate the yard in the traditional color of gold, green and red or opt for the winter theme, complete with a snowman and snowflakes. While some people prefer making the snowman and flakes using real snow, you can also get the artificial ones that look as good as real.

Step #2: Keep the essentials ready

Before you start with the Christmas yard decorations in line with the theme you have chosen, you will have to ensure that you have the essential things handy. Christmas cannot be complete without a Christmas tree. Make sure you purchase a holiday tree that is suitable for the size of your yard. Trees which are too big or too small will not make the right impact. Have the figurines of Santa Claus ready, in addition to the nativity scene.

Step #3: Bring out the Christmas ornaments

Christmas yard decorations are incomplete without the presence of attractive Christmas ornaments. You can find these ornaments easily in any Christmas store in your neighborhood. Opt for candy canes, ginger bread figurines, Rudolph the reindeer and many more artifacts that can add to the festive feel. Also, decide on how you will use these ornaments to decorate the yard. Sometimes, Christmas yard decorations don't live up to our expectations. This can be because of improper planning at this stage. Take a look at the various art pieces you have and decide on which goes where in the yard.

Step #4: Bring out the lights

The final step is to illuminate the yard. You can either opt for vintage Christmas lights or go in for the energy conserving solar Christmas lights to brighten your yard. Rather than using lights of just one color for Christmas yard decorations, try opting for various colors that blend well with each other.

Hanukkah Decorations and Party Ideas

Creating Hanukkah decorations is fun not only for children but for adults as well. Children can have a ball creating their very own paper dreidels. Cut the design of the dreidel out of paper. Use markers or crayons to color in the designs then use glue to hold the shape together.

bachelorette party decorations

Use dreidels in other aspects of your Hanukkah decorations. Use blue fabric paint to stamp pictures of dreidels and the Star of David on a plain white tablecloth. Or you can sprinkle blue dreidel confetti over a white tablecloth. Create a paper Star of David decoration by folding a strip of blue paper into a star with six points. Tie a string onto the top of the Star of David at attach it to the ceiling.

PARTY DECORATIONS

A popular tradition on Hanukkah is to give chocolate coins wrapped in a gold wrapping. Create new and inventive ways to give this treasured gift. Sew a small bag together out of velvet. Sew in a drawstring at the top of the bag so it can be pulled shut. Turn the bag inside out so the soft part of the velvet faces the inside. Center a stamp with a Hanukkah symbol on it inside the bag so that it is neatly pressed against one of the sides. Lightly spray the outer side of the bag opposite of the stamp, with water. Place a hot iron down on it for several seconds. When you turn the bag to its proper side, the impression of the stamp will be left on the bag creating a wonderful place for chocolate coins. Or you can use etching cream on the sides of used baby food jars. Tie a ribbon around the neck of the jar and place blue tissue paper on the inside. With the addition of the coins you can now give the children in the family a parting gift that is not only pretty but also delicious.

Various Baby Showers Decorations

There are plenty of baby shower decorations that you can have for your birthday party.

luau party decorations

If you have a specific theme for the baby shower, then it's quite simple to make the baby shower decorations.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Winnie the Pooh baby shower theme

Well there are a number of things that you can do for this theme. As baby shower decorations, you can hang a number of cut outs of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and the other characters. Recreate the 100-acre woods by painting trees and grass on thermocol or cardboard sheets.

These baby shower decorations will serve as a backdrop for the party. Place bottles of honey (or look alike bottles of honey) as centerpieces for your table. They can also be used as deadweights for anchoring the balloons.

The Learning baby showers decorations

The learning baby showers decorations can be made with simple baby books, rulers, colorful posters and of course an apple for the mummy. Take about 6-8 cutesy children books and turn them into centerpieces for the table. They can also be used to hold the balloons down. Blow some balloons that have alphabets on them. Scatter around some baby pacifiers, baby shoes and many more. Cut out the alphabets and string them along. Mimic the classroom style by writing on the placards ..."A for another diaper, B for baby bottle" and so on.

The baby bath baby showers decorations

The central theme of the baby shower is giving the baby a bath. Yellow can be the predominant color for the baby showers decorations. Purchase some rubber ducks, some mother ducks and some baby ducks. Place them in the centre of the table or string them across. In fact they can be turned into instant place cards. Simply print the name of the guests and punch out the paper. Now tie the paper with a string around the ducks neck.

Float the rubber ducks, some balloons, lots of bath tubs and some empty bottles of baby shampoo in galvanized tubs across the part place as part of the baby showers decorations. Let the guest get them selves wet or play some games that utilizes the tubs for the baby showers.

Celestial baby showers decorations

For the mother, her baby means the world and of course the stars and the moon. Why not do up the party with celestial baby showers decorations. Cut out paper moons and stars from construction paper or thick art paper. For added effect, apply some glue on the paper and sprinkle some glitter on the paper. You will have sparking stars and moon. Punch some hole and hang them with thread from the ceiling to give an out of the world baby showers decorations. Hang them at different levels to achieve the desired look.

Sprinkle lots of confetti that's star shaped across the entrance and the tables for the added effect. You can even use sunflowers to brighten up the room. Get some star shaped balloons to complete the look for celestial baby showers decorations.

The First baby showers decorations

If this is going to be the first baby for the mother, then why not plan a theme around it. Why not place placards or banners / signs that show the path to the baby shower. Blow some balloons filled with jelly beans and use diapers or string across the room. Write the alphabets of the baby's name on each diaper with a permanent marker and play some baby games.

Using a Christmas Party Theme - Turn Your Party Into a Winter Wonderland

When one mentions 'Christmas Party Theme', we pretty much know what's its going to be about. It regularly is comprised of plenty of snow, Christmas trees, mistletoe, Santa decor and jovial Christmas carols. Pretty familiar, yes, but Christmas parties never fail to light up our Christmas spirits. Oftentimes, we see habitancy put fake snow on their homes' or stores' windows to put on that Christmas vibe. Although this is easy and inexpensive, when the time comes to clean it up, it can get quite bothering. You will have to scrub thoroughly, and it doesn't come off easily! An easier alternative is water based tempera paint. You can use this paint to whiten your windows. They come off easily, and you can draw many designs with it: snowmen, trumpets, mistletoe, angels, pretty much anyone you fancy.

There are two confident things that screams Christmas party theme --- the tree and the music. These two aspects are integral into creating a real Christmas ambiance or atmosphere. These two indispensable things make any environment more festive and welcome.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

Here are some party tips to try to make your Christmas party even more 'Christmas-y':

Tell your guests to dress up on your party, to the Christmas Party Theme! everyone loves to dress up, and this is the excellent time to do so. They could dress up as the Three Wise Men, or a naughty elf, or maybe as the Nutcracker. Why not make a private Santa event? Let your guests pick names from a hat, buy presents for that person, and change presents on your Christmas party. Have Christmas themed games, programs and activities planned for house friendly fun. Choose your own music and entertainment. It can be as easy as playing Christmas songs as background music or you can hire live entertainment. You can hire a live band, or maybe something more unusual like a magician or stilt walkers perhaps? Plan your Christmas party way ahead in advance. Book the venue and the hired services months earlier so everything goes smoothly and of course as planned. Make sure you have a wide and assorted option ready in your food. You can stick to the customary Christmas dinner, or you can select something less conventional, or you can stick to a serving up a smorgasbord. customary snacks such as candy canes, gingerbread houses and cupcakes are very recommended. The venue for your party should not only fit your Christmas party theme, but for all your guests as well. If you have invited families who will bring along their kids, you might not want to hold your party in a club. Compromise and select your party venue appropriately. When it comes to the party, hire great and dependable staff to do the rest of the work.

You should enjoy your party and not fret over the other things! You have achieved your Christmas party theme, and now it's time to relax, and enjoy the party yourself.

Creative Birthday Party Decorations

Instead of regular balloons, why not create an amazing balloon display? You can do this by buying regular sized, clear balloons and some mini balloons. It takes a bit of practice, but what you need to do is carefully poke the mini balloon inside the neck of the regular balloon, holding onto the opening. Now blow up the little balloon and tie it off before letting it go right inside the big one. Blow up the big balloon and you will see the smaller globe bouncing around inside! Also, try making balloon bouquets for the party area. This is simple to do, all you need is to pick out different colored balloons to match the party. Hold the string at the top of the balloon as tight as you can and tie a knot. Make sure you get the knot as close to the top as you can. Space them around the room for a festive look.

zebra party decorations

You can also add confetti or Styrofoam beads to the inside of a clear balloon to make it more interesting. Or, try drawing faces of the guests or writing special notes on the balloons before you hang them up.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Making your own streamers is a great way to pull off that creative décor look. You can buy crepe paper already pre-folded, or fanfold it yourself to the dimensions you wish. Make a template of the shape you want, that complements the birthday party theme. For example, if the theme is space, you might want to do a rocket ship or an alien. Just make sure that the template reaches both sides of the crepe paper fan. Now, cut out the shape, making sure to leave at least a half inch connected at either end. This creates a chain of shapes when you unfold the paper!

Create 3D shapes for the party. It is a unique party décor the kids will enjoy and it's easy to do. All you need is construction paper and your desired shape. Trace it out on a piece of regular paper, fold the paper in half and cut the shape out. This will give you a back-to-back form and will be your template. Cut out six to ten of these from the construction paper and fold each piece in half at the midway line. Now all you have to do is glue the pieces together so they form a 3D art piece! Try this with funky things like the birthday child's profile for some very weird decorations!

Another quick idea is to simply cut circles of varying sizes out of colored construction paper and hang them everywhere. You can use plates to trace the circles and fishing line to hang them from the ceiling, tape to stick them to the walls. This is the perfect decoration for a general theme party and can be done the morning of with a little help from your kids!

Creating your own party decorations can be fun and easy to do. In fact, it can be almost as easy as buying the streamers and commercial decorations at the store, but far more entertaining and unique!

Halloween is an occasion that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. Most events and parties are for either children or grown ups. It rarely happens that all age groups can celebrate together. In this article we will focus on home made Halloween decorations and how to involve your children when making them.

Before we get started, it must be stressed that making Halloween decorations, costumes and accessories is not for everyone. If you do not enjoy using your creative talents then don't do it. It will only result in stress and arguments, you are much better off visiting an online shop that sells Halloween party supplies and getting everything delivered direct to your door. The selection is fantastic and you will save both time and money.

No matter what type of decorations you decide to make there are certain "tools" and craft supplies you will need. Any house with children will probably have most of the items already but check before you tell the kids that they will be making Halloween decorations. Items that you will need include, safety scissors, glitter glue, Halloween confetti, water soluble markers, coloured card, pipe cleaners, assorted costume accessories such as wigs and face paints.

Once you have selected a Halloween party theme, for example scary spiders, you can then start thinking about specific designs. This is where the internet comes in handy. Just do a quick search for Halloween templates and you will get a huge selection of designs including spiders, bats and ghosts. It should take no more than half an hour.

Outdoor decorations are just as important as indoor versions at Halloween. Before you finalise the items you are going to make ensure that they are weatherproof if they are to be used outdoors. There is no point making decorations if they are going to dissolve in heavy rain.

After getting all the craft supplies ready and confirming the theme you will need some firm suggestions as to what to make. In our opinion, if you do nothing else then carve or decorate a pumpkin. Halloween would not be the same without a smiling / scary pumpkin in the window. If your children are young then decorating the pumpkin rather than carving it is definitely a better choice.

Before decorating the pumpkin make sure you select one that is nice and smooth. It will help when trying to draw a design on it. Don't forget to cut the top off and scrape out the inside. When cleaning out the pumpkin leave about 1/2" on the inside. You will need the pumpkin to remain rigid.

Pumpkins do not have to last a long time. They are usually prepared the week before Halloween and are left up for a few days after Halloween night. Even so it is a good idea to apply a base coat of orange paint. This is not so important if you are carving a face on the pumpkin but if you are drawing a design then having a well prepared and smooth surface will help make you design stand out.

By the time you have got a nice smooth pumpkin and applied a base coat you will be keen to get going on the actual design. The key to success is to keep it simple. Don't go for an intricate design. Remember you just want the kids to have fun, it is not a master's degree. You may want to trace the design onto the pumpkin yourself and then let the kids crack on with the colouring.

There is no end to the number and type of Halloween decorations you can make. Another idea that is relatively easy to do is candle decorating. Just as with decorating a pumpkin get a nice smooth pillar candle in either black or orange. The bigger the better. You can then follow the same system of tracing a design onto the candle using a template downloaded from the internet. It is then just a matter of colouring between the lines. For best effect you should dig down a few mm into the candle so the design will stand out.

Halloween is a fun time of year and all the activities associated with the occasion should reflect that. There should be no pressure on the kids, they should be given the freedom to decorate as they see fit. You may end up having to do ninety percent of the work yourself, particularly when very young children are involved, but once you plan for that there should be few surprises.

If you are not interested in arts and crafts then you will not be short of alternatives. Scene setters, pinatas, and costumes are just some of the Halloween party supplies that can be easily sourced online. Even if you go down the shop bought route don't assume that the decorations will magically jump out of the box. You will still need time to get the most from them and make sure you have the scariest house in the neighborhood.
