Planning Your Child's Christian Themed Birthday Party

Walk into any party store and you'll find dozens of various birthday party theme ideas, from American Idol to Zoology. But the thing is they've all been done a thousand times before. Maybe you don't want same old, same old. You want something different. More importantly, you'd like the theme to reflect your Christian beliefs - which Hannah Montana or Tony Hawk just can't do.

Why not throw your son or daughter a Christian-themed party? Since you likely won't find these themes in party stores, it will take a little more planning. But with some thought and a little extra time, you're sure to end up with a fun and unique party that will be a hit with kids and parents, alike.

YO GABBA GABBA

Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

NOAH'S ARK. Know someone who has a boat you can borrow or rent for the day? Invite your child's friends to a party on Noah's ark. Dress up your child as Noah and have the guests come dressed as their favorite animal. No boat available? No problem! Create your own boat in the basement or party room. Decorate with cut-out animals, rainbows and other Noah's Ark accessories.

Another option: If it's a summer birthday and the weather permits, hand out rain slickers and turn on the sprinklers for forty-minutes of fun in the "rain."

PRINCESS. Who needs to dress up like Cinderella or Snow White? Your little girl is a child of the True King - so treat her like the genuine princess she is! Invite all of her friends to the palace for a royal celebration. Have lots of gowns, high heeled shoes, and white elbow gloves on-hand for dress-up. Tiara's are definitely required.

BIBLE CHARACTER. Great for any age. Have guests dress up like their favorite Bible character. For the first game, play "ten questions" and allow kids to ask "yes or no" questions to see if they can discover which Bible character their friends are portraying. If you'd rather not play dress up, a game option is to pin a Bible character name to each guest's back. Then have guests mingle and ask questions about their character to try and guess who they are.

THE AMAZING CHURCH RACE. This is a great party idea for older kids who can drive. If under age, designate a driver for each team car. Have teams race (within the speed limit, of course!) to a few different churches in the area and perform tasks, as they would for a scavenger hunt. Maybe they will have to get a bulletin from the secretary, take a digital photo of a staff member, or get the name of the Youth Pastor. If churches are closed, require a digital photo of the church itself as proof that they performed their task.

POPULAR VIDEO CHARACTERS. With the many Christian videos on the market, some kids are bent on a specific character party. 1-2-3 Penguins, Hermie, Adventures in Odyssey, and Life at the Pond are all video-based themes you can base your party around. And, of course, Veggie Tales is one of those Christian based theme you will find at the average party store.

Use these ideas as springboards for your own creativity. Plan a party for your child that kids won't only enjoy, they'll be talking about it for a long time to come.

Fun Gangster Themed Party Invitations

This party season continues to see the Gangster theme near the top of the popularity charts. And with Valentines just around the corner combined with the unceasing popularity of the Gangster Movie it's easy to see why this theme continues to capture the imagination.

So if you're thinking of planning a gangster themed party, it's time to dust off the violin case, dig out your flapper beads or spats and send out an invitation that no-one will be able to resist.

YO GABBA GABBA

Fun ideas for your Gangster Party Invitations

The Speakeasy Invitation

The Speakeasy was a secret location where prohibition beating booze parties were held and was the home of the Flapper. Kept secret for obvious legal reasons, an invitation to a Speakeasy would be expected to be in code. Using code is a fantastic way of preparing invitations but it does need careful planning. Easiest method is to detail everything the invitation is to contain, we would suggest that it include; the name of guest, name of party giver, date, location and start time. This is a minimum information required for any invitation and don't forget to include to note if you want everyone to dress up.

Having gathered all of the information you want to include the next step is to encode it. How you construct the code and how complicated you make it will depend, to a large part, on the age of the guests. Across all age groups visual clues always work and puzzle books will provide you with plenty of examples to follow. The code should be fairly easy to decipher and you should always include the correct answer on the back of the invitation.

Speakeasy or 'The Warehouse' Location Invitation

This is based on the old treasure map invitation where you draw a stylised map of the area surrounding the party venue. Use plenty of Gangster symbols and naming - like warehouses, Italian Restaurants, Nightclubs and have a large curved arrow pointing to the position on the map where the party is to be held. As an option you could include the party details into the map in gangster talk like; 'you've had this coming for a long time', 'now you're going to get it' etc.

As with all clue based invitations, be careful to ensure you include enough real information and the solution to the map should be included on the back.

The Hostage Invitation

These take a considerable time to prepare although the advent of the computer has really come to the assistance of party hosts. Either cut the individual letters from newspapers and then use different sizes mixed and stuck to paper to create the invitation. This is the old school method but produces the best results. The modern way would be to download a font (Google 'free fonts') and then create your invitation electronically. This has the benefit of being far quicker and ultimately cleaner than the old school method.

For either method, you could start with the fact that the party is being held hostage and that to free it, guests are required to attend and are also required to pay a ransom of a bottle of bootleg hooch.

These are tried and tested Gangster themed party invitation ideas and here are some additional tips to make them even more successful. All of these invitations are based on disclosing a secret party venue so they should be kept in keeping with this and should look a little tatty and crumpled. They look great on scraps of paper rather than on square cut fresh stock. A great tip for aging new paper stock is to stain it in a weak solution of tea and then leaving a few (not too many) coffee granules to add darker spots - these will spread with the dampness in the paper. When dry, crumple and tear as required.

If it's an invite to a St Valentine's Day massacre then you could add a few drops of fake blood fluid to the paper as it dries to achieve the ultimate Gangster effect or for a very simple idea you could cutout the template of a machine gun from black card and use a silver gel pen to create the invitation.

Having spent the time to create great looking invitations, don't spoil it by giving them out in plain envelopes. Use your imagination to decorate standard envelops; the theme of this decoration will depend on the overall theme of your party. If you are using the St Valentines Day Massacre, you could apply 'crime scene - do not cross' tape to the envelop or alternatively for a speakeasy theme you could scent the envelope with some whiskey or brandy and perhaps add a feather or small length of flapper beads.

Or, if you can afford to do it, buy an old violin case and a machine gun shaped purse (handbag) and keep the invitations inside the purse and keep the purse inside the violin case, the when you give the invitations out you will be opening the case and taking the machine gun purse out - just like the stylized black and white movies - before you reveal the invitation. And both accessories will be valuable for the party.

Also remember that a great Gangster themed party requires great Gangster themed fancy dress costumes and accessories. These are readily available in stores or alternatively through the internet from either specialist Gangster themed websites or from general fancy dress costume providers.

Lastly, whatever invitation style you choose and however you hand them out you will be getting the party off to a great start by building a sense of excitement, after all, if this is how good the invites are, how great will the party be..... Have a great time.

Use Wizard of Oz Backdrops at Your Next Movie Themed Party

Everybody enjoys an entertaining movie. And the Wizard of Oz is one of the most popular movies of all time. Why not host a movie theme party? A movie theme party can provide a delightful evening of fun and fellowship. Make sure that you have your camera ready to document the special party with photos. Follow these tips to make your party as fun as possible.

Tips

PARTY DECORATIONS

Make it a costume party. Have all of your guests dress up as characters from the Wizard of Oz. Each person can pick their favorite character. Or if they don't want to wear a full costume, ask them to at least wear a movie themed shirt or special color.

For people really interested in wearing authentic costumes, suggest making a trip to a local costume shop. This would be fun to do as a group. Then you can enjoy pre-party fun by trying on costumes together and laughing together. Bring your camera to take pictures of one another trying on the costumes.

If possible, rent a movie theater for your party. It would be great if you could get the theater to actually show the movie. Perhaps they'll let you hang a Wizard of Oz backdrop in the lobby. Consider having your night-at-the-movies party during the week. Monday through Thursday would work because there won't be as many people attending as during the weekend. Find a movie theater that is conveniently located for your guests.

Renting a theater might be out of your budget. In that case, you can have a movie-watching party in your home. Invite your friends and family to join you in watching the movie.

In order to reduce your stress, make your movie party double as a pot-luck dinner. Make each guest responsible for cooking a healthy dish and bringing it for everyone to enjoy. Call or email your family and friends to invite them. Mention that you would appreciate them calling or emailing you back to notify you about what food they plan on bringing. Then you can ensure that there is a good balance of main dishes, salads, desserts and drinks.

You might also want to use paper plates, cups, and plastic spoons, knives and forks. That will make cleaning up much easier.

You can make the decorations as plain or elaborate as you want. You won't have as much room as in a movie theater. However, you can still hang a backdrop. Find one in an appropriate size to fit your home.

When you present an idea of Motocross Themed Birthday Party to your kid, I believe they will be really excited. There are a lot of different themes on which you can celebrate a birthday party, but your question might be as to why the motocross theme. To be honest, kids love thrilling games as you can see it with them playing the different video games at home. Motocross party is going to provide an opportunity for them to express themselves and will help them understand as to how much you care and understand them.

For Motocross Birthday Party, there can be a lot of ideas that you can plan but I think this time we should give kids an opportunity and trust their skills. It is not that they are going to plan entirely on their own, you are going to take part in that as well, but letting them plan almost everything is going to help them learn a lot of different aspects of management at a very young age and there you are going to inculcate truly awesome skills in them.

PARTY DECORATIONS

For your child's Motocross Birthday Party, you need to take your kids to the shop and ask them to select the cake that they would want for the party and you can order the cake according to their choice and according to the guests coming to the party. You need to discuss every single bit with your kids as to what you are doing and why and believe me it will help them learn a good deal as in terms of how they can plan to throw a party at a very young age. It is important that you let your kids work the most and stay on the side and give them directions and opinions when you see they need one.

Themed Birthday Cake Decorating Ideas

There are an endless number of ways that you can come up with to decorate a cake for a birthday party. This article deals with 4 themes, and what you can do to create a very nice cake for your next birthday party.

bachelorette party decorations

For adults you can create a cake decorated based on an "Age" theme. Instead of a single cake why not create individual cupcakes totaling the age of the birthday honoree. If the person is 50 then you create 50 cupcakes in their honor. You can decorate the cupcakes with various objects that are related to the individual such as a small picture of their favorite actor/actress or singer. You can get miniature representations of their favorite cartoon or theme park characters to place on the cupcakes. Another idea is to simply adorn each cupcake with the individuals age.

PARTY DECORATIONS

If you are hosting a Gothic themed birthday party you can do a number of things to make your cake standout and be a hit of the party. You can use food coloring to turn a regular cake into a black cake or turn white icing black. Shape your cake into a coffin or some other symbol of the Gothic culture and lifestyle. Go out and find black icing, black frosting, or black sprinkles to use on the cake. You can also bake a red velvet cake for a little variety too. Go to the stores in your local area that specialize in crafts, Halloween, and Gothic products and by items to help decorate your cake for the event.

If you are throwing a child's birthday party you can cut and decorate the cake in the form of the child's favorite board game such as Candy Land, Monopoly, etc. Another popular thing to do is to cut the cake in the form of a favorite toy such as a doll or a race car and decorate accordingly. Most kids play some type of sport. Cut and decorate the cake into the shape of the field that they play on for instance a soccer field, football field, baseball field, tennis court, or putting green.

If you have a college aged kid that you are throwing a party for then creating a cake that is decorated and shaped in the form of the schools mascot and colors is always going to be a big hit.

Coming up with birthday cake decorating ideas is fun and easy. Just simply let your imagination run wild with ideas, and find fun and creative ways to implement them.

4 Ideas For Glamorous Decorations For a 70s Themed Christmas Party

Flares, glitter and dodgy moustaches all signify the 1970's- an era of incredible fashion and music. Today, the 1970's is a popular theme for Christmas parties all over the globe, mainly because the outrageous fashion and music are so funky. It's a fun themed party not only to come to but to organise as well, as you can have fun with the party decorations and go as wild with them as you want.

graduation party decorations

(1)Glamorous decoration number one has to the classic disco ball - it wouldn't be a disco without it! Place above the dance floor and get your boogie on whilst the disco ball shimmers and spins - an authentic 70's disco that will get every cool dude on the dance floor! Add a few around the Christmas party venue to ensure the whole venue looks just as funky as the dance floor. To enhance that 70's disco feeling, use strobe colored lighting or coloured disco lights, which when combined with fog or smoke machines, creates an ultimate 1970's disco.

PARTY DECORATIONS

(2)Extend the 70's to the dining and drinks area by adding psychedelic accessories. Lava lamps will give the perfect low lighting needed for an intimate venue whilst remaining true to the 1970's and added with beaded curtains, you can corner off an area to create a more intimate space in a large venue. Adding authentic 70's posters to this area or playing classic movies, such as Saturday Night Fever will further create the authentic 1970's atmosphere.

(3)For an intimate drinks area, add funky 1970's furniture which incorporates either the early flower power of the 1970's or the later glam-rock space look. It will create a retro space perfect for your dressed up guests. Stick to one look, otherwise your party venue make end up looking a bit strange.

(4)Don't be frightened to be outrageous with your decorations either. Go with gold's, silvers and glitters for a true 1970's and Christmas party look. Add gold candles, paint decorative items in gold and silver to add that extra 1970's sparkle. Gold décor added with a red velvet (you can use a different material) rope, reminiscent of studio 54, placed in the entrance hall will add that element of exclusivity and luxury for all your guests.

Decor For Your Themed Party - It's About More Than Just Centerpieces

I have come across many people over the years that tell me they are going to host a themed party or event. I ask what type of decorations they will use and, invariably, they tell me all about their centerpieces... and not much more.

zebra party decorations

The purpose of a themed party or event is to transport your guests to another place or time -- for the illusion to become their reality for a short time. To accomplish this, you have to think about more than just centerpieces. Yes, they are an important piece but by themselves they won't transport anyone into your theme.

PARTY DECORATIONS

A theme (i.e. Victorian, Tropical, Vegas, Country Garden, Western, etc...) should trigger visions, moods and feelings in your mind as soon as you say it or write it. If it doesn't, pick another theme. You need to be vested in the theme in order to decorate for it.

Search those triggered visions, moods and feelings and write a list of the items that come to mind. Free association can be a tremendous help when planning decor. For instance, some of the things a "Tropical" theme brings to mind for me include:

beach/sand palm trees ocean/waves bright colors (i.e. hot pink, yellow, lime green, orange, royal blue, etc...) salt air, floral smells a dock an island with a waterfall carefree, relaxed coconuts, bananas, mangos, pineapples, papaya grass huts with thatched roofs hula skirts/dancers Tropical flowers

Creating vignettes (small themed areas) is a lot of fun and great way to build your theme ambience for your guests. Use dead areas of your venue as an opportunity to be creative with a themed vignette. For example: a hallway, atrium, corner of the room, foyer, etc... Build vignettes around a "must-have" item in your event like: an escort card table, food area, bar area, auction tables, photo area, stage, etc...

There are tons of resources online and locally that you can use in creating your vision. Don't get stuck in just the party store either. Home improvement stores, discount superstores, thrift shops and garage sales can supply the perfect item you need! Build things, order kits, murals and lighting. All these things combined can make your theme come to life.

Plan your theme as a Hollywood set designer would plan scenery. Props and scenes are built to take film watchers along on the ride. Involve, entertain and transport your guests into your theme!

Themed Birthday Party Supplies

Birthday party supplies cover everything from decorations, food, favors and partyware. The thoughtful planner will first choose a theme (for example: disco, 1950s, Mardi Gras, Hawaiian or Western). Once you've chosen a theme, you'll find everything else for the celebration easily falls into place -- and the planning is actually fun!

graduation party decorations

You can purchase birthday party supplies at Party City or Coolest-kid-birthday-parties, which also offer clues about kids birthday and adult birthday themes. For instance, some popular kids themes include: Harry Potter, undersea, princesses, pirates, dinosaurs, fiesta, western, army and safari. Popular adult themes are: 1920s, 1950s, 1970s, mardi gras, Victorian ball, luau, western and casino.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Sometimes your guests will appreciate a simple theme, with costumes that merely involve silly hats or masquerade masks. Theme is your key to finding decorations and deciding which food to serve.

For kids parties, your best bet is sheet pizza and munchies or a little home cooking. If you're throwing a theme party, there are tons of themed food ideas for kids parties at Coolest-kid-birthday-parties. For a superhero theme, you might serve "Superhero sandwiches", "Green Goblin guacamole" and "Penguin Tuna Salad".

For a circus theme, you might want corndogs, nachos, clown face dip and animal shaped sandwiches. For adult theme parties, you might choose catering from Subway or a Chinese Buffet to save money. If you want something a little more eloquent, Foodnetwork has great recipe suggestions.

Also, for adult birthday celebration supplies, you'll certainly want to include alcohol and special drink recipes. Jello shots, Mint Juleps, Sake, Martinis, Margaritas and Kahlua-with-coffee make great treats for your guests.

For partyware, Orientaltrading, Partysupplydirect or Party City offer deals on birthday party supplies like bulk plates, cups and silverware. Your best bet if planning a large celebration is to purchase solid tableware and spice up the decorating in other areas, like tablecloths or props.

While eight themed dinner plates are only .50, imagine spending just as much on napkins, cake plates and cups; and if you have fifty or more guests coming, that stuff can really add up!

Theme celebration decorations are a quintessential part of birthday party supplies purchases. For kids parties, find decorating ideas at Coolest-kid-birthday-parties where you can do-it-yourself and save money.

If you're low on time, Celebrateexpress offers all-in-one decoration kits that include all partyware, tablecloths, balloons, streamers, and sometimes even celebration favors as well.

Adults can purchase most decorations separately at Party City or in kits at Birthdayzbyshindigz. This can be a really fun part of birthday party supplies shopping as long as you set a budget and stick to it.

Nothing beats a great celebration that's carefully planned, from the invitations to the favors. You'll be happy to know that you're not alone in your planning. There are plenty of online resources to help minimize the stress and give you more creative ideas for your birthday party supplies purchasing.

Themed Party Ideas - Abba Party

Big flairs, lots of white it is the Abba party

yo gabba gabba party decorations

Have you watched the musical movie of Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried released last year? Mamma Mia!  When I watched the movie, I fell in love with this song as well other songs in the movie.  It was like relieving the days of Abba once again.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

Abba has been one of the pillars of the music industry in the 70's until their last recording in the early part of the 80's.  A lot of people, young and old, have fell in love with their music.  With the issue of Mamma Mia, it was like Abba has been put in the limelight again.

Abba Party anyone?
When I was mental of a convenient party for my girlfriends, it came to me to use the idea of an Abba Party theme.  Why?  Because when I saw how they reacted when they hear the song Mamma Mia and I Have a Dream, I was immediately sure that the Abba Party theme will be a hit!

The whole idea of the Abba Party is to relive the 70's era of Abba but to put a hint of present days.  Of course, the night should be a night of music and must emphasize the songs of the band, Abba.

Abba Party ideas

Venue
The setting for the Abba Party can be an oldie 70's backdrop in a bar where the music of Abba can be continuously played or your own place decorated with 70's stuff.  Depending on your budget, you can either go for the real bar and rent it out for the group or decorate your house to pass like a disco bar.

It's relatively easy if you have the budget that will enable you to reserve one bar for your group.  All you need to do is instruct the owner to set-up the place for an Abba Party.   In addition to the 70's backdrop, you may also want to include posters Abba's album to breathe the Abba's ambiance into the place.

If you are tight on budget and determine to change your place into a 70's Abba Party hub, try creating a disco-like atmosphere straight through the use of cardboards placed on the floors and decorate the walls with brightly coloured papers.  Go for orange, lime green and yellow!

The music should originate a distinctive ambiance in the party.  Abba songs should be continuously played in the background.  At the start of the party, pick songs that are the most famous.  Mamma Mia is an ideal option as it is used with the up-to-date movie.  Guests should be able to recognize that the music that are playing are from Abba so the option of the first few songs is highly critical.  The rest can be premium at random because towards the end if the guests don't know the song, they will just be reacting: "Oh, so that is still Abba's!"

The Look
It's time to open the closet and get the 70's clothes out of the boxes! The 70's is the era of colourful and psychedelic clothes.  Go for bell bottoms, flares and leather jackets.  The colour blend rules were naturally forgotten in this era.  Of course, since this is an Abba Party, the Abba elements should be present on top of the 70's.

If you want to go full blast Abba, wear a white suit and bring out the afro wig!  That will easily do the job.  There are thousand pictures of Abba in the net where you can get your inspiration.

On the other hand, if you're trying to be a tiny conservative, you may just wear a appealing coloured blouse of dress, and then top it with a wide and equally colourful headband.
