Super Easy But Cute Holiday Decorating Ideas

As the thought of the next holiday looms in the future, our choices for holiday decorating ideas grow shorter. There needs to be something new and fresh; something we haven't tried before. Here are the perfect solutions.

Transform inexpensive everyday items into charming containers for holiday candies. Save everyday items like jelly jars or small paint cans for this project. Or if you like you can use your imagination and go out and buy an item that wouldn't necessarily be used as a candy jar; like a glass porch globe. Allow your imagination to run wild and use paint, stamps or decorative paper to transform your container. Use etching cream on glass jars to create a frosting effect.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Decorate for your next holiday by creating fun hand towels to spruce up the bathroom. Use fabric paint or markers, iron on decals or ribbons and lace to create your own festive holiday scenes. Another fun holiday decorating idea is to replace everyday pictures with holiday cards or pictures. Simply save old holiday cards or pictures of family members from the previous year. Switch your everyday picture out of the frames with the new holiday ones.

Holiday table decorations don't have to stop with an interesting centerpiece. Create your own place mats, napkins or napkin rings. Buy plain place mats and cloth napkins. Again, use your fabric markers or paint and your decals or ribbons to create simple, fun decorations not only for parties but for everyday meal times. Improve your centerpieces by decorating plain candles.

Use your imagination and search your local craft supply stores for items that will give those everyday candles a little extra kick during the holidays. By using these simple and easy to do projects for your holiday decorating, you can transform your home into a festive wonderland for any holiday.

Easy Cookie Decorating Ideas For Children

Making cookies is a great way to spend some capability time with your children. They like to help and here are some ways to get them started without a lot of fuss. You can buy or make up a tiny icing beforehand. If you are making the icing, use meringue powder instead of raw eggs. Here is an easy icing that dries slippery and makes a tiny over a cup. Beat 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of meringue powder with 2 cups of powdered sugar. Add ¼ cup of warm water and ½ teaspoon of your beloved extract flavor. Avoid maple or vanilla unless you have the clear-colored extracts or you will end up with brown icing. Mix on low for 4 minutes.

Separate your icing into several bowls. Let the kids add some red and green food coloring, but remember to keep some just plain white icing. Find some unused paint brushes if you have them for the tiny artists to dab on eyes or swirls with the colored icing. And arrange all the distinct sprinkles, sugars, chips, coconut flakes and candies that can be used for decoration. If you have any straws they can come in handy, also.

YO GABBA GABBA PARTY DECORATIONS

If you are making cut out cookies, you can make it easy on yourself by cutting some simple round shapes. Suggest that they are faces, balloons or balls from their beloved sport or any other round object. Save a tiny dough, color it yellow or brown (equal amounts of red, blue and yellow coloring) and squeeze it through a garlic press to make hair. Attach it to the top of the round cookies as if it is hair and bake. Mixing food coloring with coconut flakes also makes hair. You can create Christmas carolers by using your straw to make a hole for the mouth before baking the cookies. Cut small pieces off a gumdrop and attach them with a tiny icing where the ears would be. They look like earmuffs. You can also place them into the dough before baking.

If you have graham crackers, you don't have to make any cookies at all. Just turn the square so the points are at the top and bottom and make a Santa Claus face. Put down a small layer of white icing on all but the top inch or so of the triangular point. Before it dries attach coconut flakes on the bottom point for a beard. With red icing spread the top inch triangular point for a hat. Attach more coconut over the bottom of the red triangle for the hat trim and at the very tip to complete Santa's hat. A red cinnamon candy or red M&M-type candy will do for the nose. You could even use the tip of a red licorice stick or a small piece cut from a red gum drop. Eyes can be any other tiny colored candies you may have on hand or just some green-colored icing.

Decorating doesn't have to be complex, nor do you need dozens of different-shaped cutters. Let the children paint a establish on the round cookies with distinct colors using a paintbrush. They can write their names or initials in icing. Two teaspoons of vodka with ½ teaspoon of luster dust allows you to paint sparkling designs on top of dried icing. The alcohol will evaporate. Cutting out the center of a round cookie before baking creates a wreath that can be decorated. Placing a tiny open cookie cutter in the center of an iced cookie before it dries, allows you to add sprinkles on the inside of the cutter that will make the shape of the tiny cutter. Add a tiny icing in the center of a cookie and place an animal cracker on top. The opportunities are endless and only tiny by you or your children's imagination.

Bridal Shower Party - 4 Great Decorating Ideas

The bridal shower party is traditionally the last party a bride goes to as a single woman. It is also a party that celebrates her past and present life along with her future as a bride and wife.

zebra party decorations

If you're throwing a bridal shower party, it's always a great idea to plan ahead, preferably at least two weeks before. This gives you enough time to send out the invites, order what you'll need for the party and put up the necessary decorations.

PARTY DECORATIONS

To help you with your bridal shower decorating activity, here are some great ideas you can try:

1. Go for simplicity

Simple doesn't have to mean dull and lifeless. When done correctly, it can also create a stunning and elegant look for your bridal shower decorations. Use pure white for table cloths, napkins, candles, curtains and balloons. It's clean, fresh and makes any room sunny and inviting. Once you've set the mood, create splashes of great color on the table setting, utensils, balloons and other accents. Use gold, silver or cobalt and jade for a rich texture.

2. Not one to go for purity? Go for color instead

The right use of color brings life and the right kind of ambience for the bridal shower party. Choose decorations based on the color scheme of the wedding or on the bride's favorite color. If you can't find a room with the right color, choose one with a basic color like white or pale beige and then use color for the accents and the decors.

3. Try sexy decors

Why not try bordello-inspired decors for your bridal shower party? Put up brightly-colored chiffon drapes or use silk hangings to decorate the walls. Place floating candles on shallow dishes in different parts of the room and place elaborately-designed pillows on the sofa and larger ones on the floor. Think rich and voluptuous and go for curvy vases and table decors in deep colors.

4. A shower in full bloom

When it comes to bridal shower decorations, you can't go wrong with flowers. They look especially nice whether you're having a shower party outdoors or indoors. Use flowers that are in season so you can buy in bulk. That way, you can go overboard and never run out of blooms. Use roses, daisies, carnations, lilies and lily of the valley or combine different flowers to create a stunning effect.

Tie a bunch of flowers and use them to decorate curtains or place large fish bowls filled with water and submerge cut flower heads in them. Spread petals on the sofa, over the table cloth and on the floor. They make the room look beautiful and infuse the area with a wonderful scent.

Do-It-Yourself Party Decorating Ideas

Setting the mood is an important aspect to planning any party. Elaborate and well thought out decorations will add uniqueness to your party. A party need not be just a gathering of people; many times it is an occasion when a group of people may indulge in different activities to have fun. The party decorating ideas that you use will vary depending upon the theme of the party or the event. For example, if your party is to commemorate your wedding anniversary, you will want the décor to give an elegant and romantic feel.

hello kitty party decorations

Formal or fun, stylish and chic, party decorating ideas can be categorized many ways. The basic criterion is that they should take into consideration the party theme or event and match that well. Irrespective of the type of party the basics of good party decoration typically remain the same. Just change the décor to suit the party. You could be throwing a birthday party or maybe a party to celebrate a new job or promotion. What matters the most is that the décor should suit the occasion. The key intention of any decoration is to create the right atmosphere so that guests enjoy the party without the hint of awkwardness. The mood of the party hosts should also be reflected in the decor.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Party decorating ideas are a good way of utilizing your creativity and making the occasion exceptional. After you have determined the invitation guest list, you should move to planning the venue decorations. A good pointer that will guide you is your guest list itself. Take note of the different types of people who will be attending and decorate accordingly. For example, if the party is for your toddler's birthday, you can decorate the walls with cartoon cut outs and festoons. Confetti and colorful balloons will appeal to other toddlers and parents and set the mood for that very special occasion!

Also, keep in mind that a much overlooked party decorating idea is the efficient use of space. The larger the space, the more decorations you can use. However, try to find a good balance as you don't want to end up with a cluttered look. A small fortune need not be spent on effectively decorating the venue. The trick is to be creative and find unique ways of decorating the party site. You can make good use of old Christmas ornaments to decorate the walls. Paint old glass ornaments and use them as showpieces. Use old cardboard boxes and decorate them to make them look like giant present boxes. If you are organizing your child's birthday party, your child's collection of plush toys and stuffed animals can work well as attractive decorative items. For a Christmas party, consider using sparkly, tacky jewelry to decorate Christmas trees. Make good use of your aesthetic sense while decorating the party location. You may even wish to look up craft sites on the net to get more help in the creativity department!

Themed Birthday Cake Decorating Ideas

There are an endless number of ways that you can come up with to decorate a cake for a birthday party. This article deals with 4 themes, and what you can do to create a very nice cake for your next birthday party.

bachelorette party decorations

For adults you can create a cake decorated based on an "Age" theme. Instead of a single cake why not create individual cupcakes totaling the age of the birthday honoree. If the person is 50 then you create 50 cupcakes in their honor. You can decorate the cupcakes with various objects that are related to the individual such as a small picture of their favorite actor/actress or singer. You can get miniature representations of their favorite cartoon or theme park characters to place on the cupcakes. Another idea is to simply adorn each cupcake with the individuals age.

PARTY DECORATIONS

If you are hosting a Gothic themed birthday party you can do a number of things to make your cake standout and be a hit of the party. You can use food coloring to turn a regular cake into a black cake or turn white icing black. Shape your cake into a coffin or some other symbol of the Gothic culture and lifestyle. Go out and find black icing, black frosting, or black sprinkles to use on the cake. You can also bake a red velvet cake for a little variety too. Go to the stores in your local area that specialize in crafts, Halloween, and Gothic products and by items to help decorate your cake for the event.

If you are throwing a child's birthday party you can cut and decorate the cake in the form of the child's favorite board game such as Candy Land, Monopoly, etc. Another popular thing to do is to cut the cake in the form of a favorite toy such as a doll or a race car and decorate accordingly. Most kids play some type of sport. Cut and decorate the cake into the shape of the field that they play on for instance a soccer field, football field, baseball field, tennis court, or putting green.

If you have a college aged kid that you are throwing a party for then creating a cake that is decorated and shaped in the form of the schools mascot and colors is always going to be a big hit.

Coming up with birthday cake decorating ideas is fun and easy. Just simply let your imagination run wild with ideas, and find fun and creative ways to implement them.

Fun and Easy Cupcake Decorating Ideas

The cupcake usually plays second fiddle to the cake, but with a few simple cupcake decorating ideas this delicious treat may move into the lead. Most people only serve cupcakes for children's parties, and they rarely make them for an everyday snack. These individual cakes are easy to make and fun to eat, though, and they can be a much bigger hit than an ordinary cake at all types of special events.

party decorations

One of the easiest of all cupcake decorating ideas is simply to switch it up with the icing. Frost the cupcakes with multiple colors to create a unique theme or just add some fun. It is also easy to frost cupcakes and decorate them with letters or numbers to personalize them for any celebration or special someone. For example, to celebrate a child getting a great report card, make cupcakes frosted in school colors with As and A-pluses on top. It's simple but fun and a terrific treat for a deserving kid.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Cupcakes are much more flexible than ordinary cake because they are small and they can be shaped and stacked. Frost and organize cupcakes into numbers on a platter to celebrate a sweet 16 party, or move them around or pile them up to create a themed image. Just make a quick plan ahead of time to make sure things are placed properly.

One of the most enjoyable cupcake decorating ideas for kids is to set up a decorating station at birthday parties for all of the party guests to create their own cupcake design. Just set up some cups or bowls with a variety of candies, sprinkles and other sugary sweets to adorn the cupcakes. The kids will rave, and grown up kids will like it too!

Just because cupcakes are small, doesn't mean you can't decorate them like a cake. For a fancier cupcake treat, we recommend breaking out the cake decorating tips to swirl and leaf an elegant design on cupcakes. Combine fancy frosted designs with creative stacking patterns, and you can make a fabulous cupcake cake suitable for even the most special of occasions.

Cupcakes are not just for kid's parties, either. They taste every bit as good as cake and offer up much more opportunity for creative party planners. It is fun and challenging to find new ways to decorate cupcakes for different kinds of parties and social events.

The cupcake is also handy when you need to bake it and take it. Parties at school, gatherings at work, picnics in the park, you name it. For any occasion outside the house, cupcakes are perfect because they don't need anything - knives, forks or plates. They are also easier to serve, so try making cupcakes instead of cake for your next special occasion.

Christmas Decorating Ideas

For most people, Christmas decorating ideas are normally limited to decorating the tree and the living room and making the dining-room table look beautiful. But, what if you are throwing a Christmas party or have invited friends or family to stay for the holidays? Then, extending your decorations to include the rest of the house is well worth the extra effort.

hello kitty party decorations

The hall is where we welcome guests, and the place where people tend to gather together during big parties, which makes it the obvious area for additional decorative displays. You don't have to put together anything especially lavish or elaborate - just a few simple touches to create the right atmosphere. Arrange fat church candles of varying heights in a large shallow dish on hall table and surround the candles with foliage and berries to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A nice touch would be to hang a big bunch of mistletoe close to the front door and decorate pictures and mirrors with swags of greenery.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Small bowls of wrapped candies, fruits, and seasonal nuts not only look beautiful but are useful to have on hand for impromptu gatherings. Likewise, pots of strongly scented winter flower bulbs, such as hyacinths and cyclamen, placed on landings, windowsills, and even in the bathroom, will give your home an air of being all dressed up for visitors.

The kitchen is often overlooked when it comes to Christmas decorating ideas, and yet, when there is a party in the house, this rooms seems to be attracting your guests like a magnet. However, kitchen decorations should be kept to a minimum because of its more functional role. You can simply suspend colored baubles from the hooks on a dresser, which will look pretty and add to the sense of the occasion.

If your kitchen is part of the open-plan space, then you can extend your living-room decorations to the kitchen area by stringing a few twinkling lights along the shelves or put a big vase of sculptural twigs hung with glossy red berries.

Another way to spruce up the spare room is to use decorations similar to those on the Christmas tree to create a small garland for the mantelpiece, to tie to the handle of the closet, or hang above the mirror.

To decorate dressing table and bedside tables, put aromatically scented candles surrounded by circlets of evergreen foliage on them. Handmade organza Christmas stockings filled with spicy potpourri would be a great alternative to lavender pillows and small dishes of traditional potpourri.

Girl Birthday Party Ideas - The Cake Decorating Party

Do you have a young daughter or grand daughter, and are you struggling for that perfect Girl Birthday Party Idea? It can be difficult settling on a theme, should it be a Princess theme or Mermaid theme, and then will all the guests have costumes? How can you be sure everyone will have a great time? One great solution when it comes to Birthday Party Planning is to have a Cake Decorating party. This is great fun as all the guests can join in, and take home their finished efforts. So here is my plan for the perfect Cake Decorating Party for the Birthday Girl.

hello kitty party decorations

As with all parties, when you are planning the invites, do not just send out a basic plain invite. Consider how you can theme the invite, with pictures of cooking, chefs hat and mixing bowls. You can source images from the internet, or even draw your own images or have the birthday girl draw some designs, and scan then them in, and then design the birthday card on the computer.

PARTY DECORATIONS

If you are hosting the party at home, consider how you might theme the kitchen or room where the Cake decorating will take place. Lots of shops sell birthday parepheniallia, whether it is a card shop, The One Dollar shop or supermarket. Look for suitable cake celebration tableware. Or find plain paper table toppers, and decorate with pictures yourself. I would also look at sourcing some plain white aprons for everyone, to hand out when the guests arrive. It is a good idea to personalize the aprons, and this can be done with either a fabric marker, or, if you can find some T-shirt printing paper (you may find in an office supplies shop), how about an image of the guests or the party girl printed on the aprons. Chef hats are also a fabulous idea, and if you can find them will really add a sense of "dressing up". I would also personalize these and write the name of each guest on each of the chef hats.

You will need to do some preparation cooking beforehand. I would look to bake some small cakes, such as vanilla bundt cakes or fairy cakes. There are plenty of simple recipes that you can use. These will be the basic cakes that the guests will then decorate accordingly. Find some edible cake decorations. Your local supermarket is always a good source for little silver balls, M&Ms, sprinkles, icing sugar in piping bags, small candies, come plain chocolate (for grating). Once you have laid out the table, place all the cake decorating items in individual bowls with the prepared icing sugar piping bags and place them on the table.

When the guests arrive, hand out their respective aprons and chefs hats. At each placing there should be a little plain cake ready for decorating. The guests can then decorate each of the cakes accordingly, by taking items from the bowls and placing on top of their cakes. At the end of the party, the guests can all take home their decorated cake. (Remember always to make extra cakes for mistakes and for those cakes that get accidentally eaten!

For food prepare finger foods and simple snacks, and think about some party games they can play, with food and cooking themes. Pass the Parcel can be come Pass the Hot Potato, or you can have Egg and Spoon races. At the end of the party, all the guests should have a little decorated cake to take home. In addition, how about preparing some party bags with play-doh, mini rolling pins, measuring spoons cookie cutters.

When it come to the perfect Girl Birthday Party, this is one of my favourite themes, as it makes a change from the normal Princess or fairy Party, and the cake decorating keeps the kids occupied and entertained. You can also have a similar party with a Pizza Party, where instead of cakes, you make or buy some mini pizzas with bowls of cheese, tomatoes, pineapple, ham and various other pizza toppings. Then after the guests have finished "decorating" their pizzas, you can put them in the oven, while they play party games. When the pizzas are done, voila! you have the party food all prepared, thanks to the guests. One less job to think about.

Kids Cake Decorating

When it comes to children's cakes, you need to be more creative and artistic because children love colorful and beautiful cakes. If you are planning to create a homemade birthday cake for your child, it can be possible because baking the cake for your child's birthday is not that expensive and it can also be a fun bonding activity together with your child.

graduation party decorations

You do not need advanced materials in baking and decorating kids cakes. As long as you have the basic tools for baking and decorating cakes, you are already good to go. You can create wonderful cakes that your child will definitely love.

PARTY DECORATIONS

When creating cakes, you can also let your child help you especially if your child is a girl. Usually, girls love helping out in the kitchen so you can let your daughter help you when you are baking. You can let her do simple tasks such as beating the eggs or grouping the ingredients. Through this, you and your daughter can share great bonding time together while you are also able to bake faster through the help of your daughter.

On the other hand, you might want to save time in baking and you would like to make sure that the cake tastes good so it would be advisable to use baking mixes because these are already premixed and tastes good too. With this, you can easily create mouthwatering cakes in just simple and easy to follow instructions. Aside from that, these mixes can be cheaply purchased at bake shops or groceries. This way, if you are pressed for time you do not have to bake your cakes from scratch.

Once the cake is already baked and removed out of the oven, you can let it cool while you are preparing the other materials needed for the decorations. Since you are creating children's cakes, you should have a good knowledge about the interests of the children. This way, you will not only be able to make the cake appealing to your child, but you will also know the interests of your child.

If you have a daughter, most likely, she will love to have flowers and princesses on her cake. You can check out cake toppers for these princesses while you can also have edible flowers on her cake. On the other hand, if you have a little boy, then the cake toppers are usually superheroes or cars or his favorite cartoon characters.

True enough, it is nice to create a homemade cake especially for your child on their special day.

Decorating Outside Your Home For Halloween (A Spooky Theme)

For many people the best part of Halloween is being able to decorate the outside of their home. This doesn't have to be limited to just the front yard. Decorating the backyard can create a very spooky atmosphere. You can even design a detour that will take each of your guests on a long walk that circles the backyard before leading them to the entrance. This way they get to enjoy the full benefits of your decorating efforts.

party decorations

The traditional pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns make great additions when you decorate the outside of your home for Halloween. The light that these decorations give off will help your guest to see their way around and add the perfect lighting to create scary shadows that surround the other decorations. Ghost and goblins are an old favorite that can still make your guest look over their shoulder twice. Don't be afraid to get very creative with these items. Some of the newer designs are now being made inflatable to help give them an even more lifelike appearance.

PARTY DECORATIONS

The use of a fog machine can create an illusion that can make your yard the spookiest of all. This is especially true when you litter the lawn with fake body parts and fake blood splattered all about the area. The fog just intensifies the whole spooky theme. Don't forget about a special door bell ring that alerts you of the incoming guest with screams, howling or some other unique Halloween greeting. You can even have a host that is decked out in one of the scariest costumes around to stand outside your door to personally welcome each and every one of you Halloween guest.

Add special sound effects that will begin whenever your guest walks past a certain area. You can also use props that are programmed on a timer to go off at specific intervals. Spider webs are also a great decorating idea that will help you to create a spooky outdoor theme. Make sure that you don't forget the customary black cat and maybe a witch or two sitting in the trees watching the guest wondering by. It's just not Halloween without a few traditional items.

Princess Birthday Party Decorating Ideas

The time has come for your little princess to celebrate her birthday and she has decided that this is the year for her royal ball; an enchanting afternoon to celebrate with all of her friends. Now what? Relax, take a deep breath and follow our guide to decorate for the Perfect Princess Party.

graduation party decorations

Whether you a month or even just a week to plan, we will make this birthday the easiest and best.

PARTY DECORATIONS

First you need to decide what is doable and what you can do without. If you have a budget, stick to the basics. You do not need to spend a lot of money to have a magical day.

Of course decorations are a must! If you are on a budget, the dollar store is your friend. You are certain to find streamers, table covers and balloons there. Here you can save some money by purchasing basic colors instead of Princess themed streamers and balloons. Buy a mix of pink, purple, white or yellow. These are the basic colors for princesses.

First, start by making a thrown for the princess. If she is younger in age, a child's chair will work great. My daughter had a Cinderella plush chair that made a great thrown. If you do not have something similar, take a basic chair and cover with tulle fabric. If it is an adult chair, try adding a step stool in front, to make it easier for her to get on and off. Place chair against a blank wall if possible

Using more tulle, curtains or streamers, decorate the wall directly behind the thrown. Arrange on the wall as you would arrange drapes on a window. Instead of the window being the focal point, the thrown will be instead.

What thrown would be complete with a carpet that leads up to it? I used large red construction paper and taped it together to make a red walk way carpet. I already had it on hand and it added so much flair to the thrown area. The girls loved walking on the "red carpet".

Entering the princess party can be just as exciting as the inside, with doorway decoration. If you are crafty and have patience try this project. Start by deciding which doorway you would like to decorate. It can be the doorframe to the house or to the thrown area. Measure the width of the doorframe, so that you know how wide to make your castle entrance. Using cardboard or heavy paper cut the top half and shape to represent a castle making castle towers. Leave the bottom half straight so that it aligns parallel to the floor. Try to make it a good height, so that the adults won't bump their heads coming it and out. After decorating with construction paper or paint, hang from the top of the doorway. If you have the time or would like to make it more elaborate, you can also add the sides of the castle and a lowered drawbridge. These decorations can be made in advance and setup the night before.

If adding a castle entrance is too much work, try adding streamers and balloons instead.

Decorating the tables and chairs can be just as easy or elaborate depending on your budget, space and time. If you want to have a table just for the princess and her court, design her table with a Princess themed, pink or purple table cover and all other tables should have white table covers. Centerpieces can be a single red rose in a vase to honor Belle of Beauty and the Beast or glass slippers if Cinderella is her favorite. You can find faux roses and vases in inexpensive party stores or in dollar discount stores, whereas glass slippers may have to be an online purchase from auction sites or online party stores.

Chairs can be draped with tulle or fabric and embellished with a bow in the back. If you have a table just for the princess and her court, you can just decorate the chairs for them.

Decorate the cake table with Princess themed napkins, plates and party favors. Be all the little girls have tiaras or princess hats and the little boys have crowns or swords. You can also have the party goers dress in royal attire to add flair to such a special occasion.

Dress up the walls with princess pictures and posters can add that special touch. A great idea is to print princess pictures, place in frames and hang on a wall to represent all the princesses that came before yours. You can purchase inexpensive frames in discount stores, dollar stores and superstores. Find nice princess pictures by searching online.

Include your princess in the decision making; She knows what she likes. Last but not least, don't be afraid to be bold and help make your Princess feel special on her birthday, after all she is royalty.

Sweet 16 Birthday Parties - Decorating

Your daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party will be one she will never forget, so make it memorable and beautiful using a lot of lights, balloons, streamers, music, and delicious food. A Sweet 16 party honors a girl of 15 who is turning 16 and entering the realm of becoming a young lady. It has been called the "coming of age" party since most states permit the privilege of driving a vehicle at the age of 16 years.

black and white party decorations

First and foremost, decide on a theme for your daughter's Sweet 16 party. The most popular colors used for the Sweet 16 birthday party are pink and purple, but any colors will do if they compliment the theme of the party. Some popular themes include Princess Sweet 16, Spa Night, Hollywood Evening, a Hawaiian Luau, Masquerade Ball, or a winter theme. All are meant to honor the 16-year-old birthday girl and her friends who come to celebrate with her.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Sweet 16 birthday parties are held in homes, banquet halls, and other special locations, depending on budget. No matter where you decide to host your party, these ideas will work for you when it comes to decorating for your daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party.

The entrance should wow your daughter's guests. Balloon arches are colorful and create a fantastic decoration at the door. LED mini light sets in pink, purple, or the color of your choosing will look fantastic adorning the greenery around the balloon arch. Use Christmas light stakes (you may have some in your attic right now) to make lights appear to "float" when placed along the walkway leading into the entrance. Use traditional incandescent C7, or C9 bulbs and cords to string along the walkway for added color. You can go a traditional route and use all clear or you can mix up the color of the bulbs according to your daughter's taste and the theme of the party.

The gift table is the perfect place to feature photographs of your daughter as she grew from a little girl to a young lady. White mini lights wrapped in tulle and accented with bows lining the table and accenting the photos on the tabletop will illuminate your daughter's images and make them that much more beautiful.

A beautiful Sweet 16 cake is a must at this party. Compliment or match the colors of the cake decorations with mini LED lights of the same colors around the cake table and around the cake itself to add sparkle and the "wow" factor. You can fill glass bricks available at craft stores with mini light and wrap like presents to accent the buffet and gift tables.

Girls love having their photograph taken, right? Take a blank wall and create a unique photo opportunity for your daughter and her guests. Scene setters can easily be rented from a local party store to match your theme. Surround the scene setter with mini lights, Razzberry LED lights, or Strawberry LED lights. Streamers and confetti often bring the look together nicely. Your daughter and friends will enjoy posing for photos throughout the evening.

Table linens should compliment the color scheme. Layer several together for a vivid splash of color and eye appeal. Balloons in colors that match the theme are great in large bunches, tied together, and placed in a decorative box, basket, or pot. Pool several sets of mini lights at the base of the balloons for a glittery and sparkling effect.

You may already have many of the lights you'll need leftover from the last Christmas holiday or you can find lights online all year. Whether you adopt one tip or all of them, planning and a few sparkly lights will make your young woman's Sweet 16 fun and memorable.

Decorating a Sweet 16 Party With Lights

Indoor Lighting Ideas

PARTY DECORATIONS

Staircases look even more beautiful adorned with sparkles of light. Interweave strings of mini lights through the banister from top to bottom. Add tulle or gossamer fabric if you are planning a more formal party theme.

Decorate the entire indoor party space and areas surrounding it with strings of Christmas lights.

Create a ceiling of light in the main room by suspending lights from the ceiling.

Outline doorways and windows. Create a display table with photos of your daughter growing up. Drape lights all around the table and then cover them with sheer fabric so pinpoints of light will shine through.

Don't forget to decorate the gift table and food table with mini lights too!

Candles tucked safely inside glass hurricanes are perfect in groups around the house. Choose lights and candles in colors that match the theme of the party.

Outdoor Lighting Ideas

Decorate the trees, shrubs, fences, and any other outdoor feature you have in both your front and back yard. Lead the guests to the party area with lights lining the sidewalk or walkway. Decorate the food table and gift table with lights. Battery operated mini lights are perfect for transforming an ordinary table centerpiece into something extraordinary. Suspend light strings along the garden paths using light stakes. Create a beautiful lighted arch using an ordinary garden trellis - weave the lights all through the trellis and add vines or flowers for added color and pizzazz. Hang a banner introducing the guest of honor between two trees - add lights to the tree trunks and attach them to the banner if possible to make it sparkle. Line walkways or paths with luminaries - bags filled halfway with sand and votive candles nestled securely in the middle of the sand - especially nice for evening parties.

Christmas lights bring so much to the party! Lights come in just about every color and shape nowadays too, so choose the colors of lights for your Sweet 16 party that match or coordinate with the overall theme.

Pink, purple, and white are popular colors, but some teens prefer a combination of silver and white lights to make the occasion a bit more formal. Do whatever works for your party girl's preferences!

See that? You're a pro now that you have learned how to decorate for a Sweet 16 party with lights! The next one won't be so difficult, right? Have fun with it!

Summer Buffet Table Decorating Ideas

It's time for summer celebrations, entertaining family and friends. If you're serving food, your buffet table will take center stage. Our rule for summer is to keep it simple. Whether you're throwing a tea party, beach party or having a holiday get together; these three easy steps will turn your ordinary buffet table into a dining area masterpiece!

luau party decorations

Three easy steps to setting an eye catching buffet table:

PARTY DECORATIONS

1. Start with a theme:

A theme will keep everything tied together and will help you choose your menu and decorations. Remember; keep it simple so you don't end up with a lot of "stuff" cluttering the buffet table. Your theme can be based on a color or on a subject. For instance if you're having a summer tea party, you could decorate with an assortment of tea cups.

2. Choose either a centerpiece or a focal point:

The occasion and size of the buffet table will most likely determine the choice of a centerpiece or focal point. A centerpiece will always be your focal point; however, a focal point does not have to be a centerpiece. Using the tea party as an example we would choose a centerpiece. An idea would be to have a four tier stand with scones and other goodies sitting in the center of your buffet table. On one side, set your plates, napkins and silverware. On the opposite site, a teapot with your tea cups alongside. Keep in mind how you want the buffet table to flow. We suggest setting your buffet so your guests will start at one end and move down the table to the other.

3. Add appropriate embellishments:

Keep your embellishments simple and small. Your embellishments should compliment your centerpiece without taking the attention from your focal point or making it difficult for your guests to fill their plate. Just add a few decorative touches to finish out your display. Make sure the embellishments are fitting to the theme you have chosen. If you're having a tea party you wouldn't want a glass of sea shells or something that would represent the beach! To help determine where you will place the embellishments, we suggest laying out where the food will be placed on the buffet table first. Use decorative cake platters and stands to set the food at different heights. You can also use different size boxes set underneath a table cloth to achieve the same look. Having the menu items set at different heights will make it easier for your guests to see what is being offered and give your buffet table a sophisticated look.

For our tea party we chose to embellish with miniature flower bouquets that reflected the colors on the tea cups. We cut the stems short and placed them in vases, grouped together in different shapes and sizes.

Low Cost Birthday Decorating Ideas For The Budget Conscious!

Whoever said that decorating for birthdays had to be an ornate affair? The truth of the matter is that anyone can come up with a great idea for a birthday party and pull it off on a reasonable budget. With so many types, kinds and styles of birthday decorations to choose from, the budget conscious shopper is sure to find fitting decorations at prices that fit into his/her budget. Just remember that it does not have to cost a lot for it to look good, and with the right combination of colors and creativity a birthday party decorated on a budget can be equally impressive and fun as a birthday party that was decorated by Martha Stewart.

black and white party decorations

The first thing you should think of is what theme you're going for, and theme does not mean trying to make Disney World in your back yard. A birthday party theme can be as simple as 'Under the sea' or 'In the woods', but the importance of having a theme for budget conscious shoppers is that your theme will tell you exactly what you need, how much of it you will need and what colors, style and types of decorations to go for.

PARTY DECORATIONS

So for instance, if you decide to go with a theme like 'Under the sea', you can look for decorations that are blue or blue-green. Different sizes of balloons in these colors will not only make excellent archways but can also give the effect of bubbles. Another inexpensive but incredibly useful decoration for birthday parties are streamers, and since many of them are made out of crepe paper, you can get streamers in any color or combination of colors. Various types of candy can be used as sea treasures as well as shells and iridescent aquarium stones can make beautiful table ornaments. And to top off a wonderful time under the sea, you can bid your guests good-bye and well wishes with party bags, using the shells, stones and especially candy as party parting favors.

Other low cost party themes and decorations can be found right around your house, for instance if you decide to go with the 'In the woods' theme. All you need is a little imagination and creativity to make leaves and sticks into a wood-wonder-land. Old plaid shirts can be used as lumberjack clothing while nuts and fruits and candy make great food for both the stuffed animals tucked behind every nook and cranny and the little woodlanders who search about the woods. Again, streamers and balloons, and you may even want to consider paper lanterns, are all low cost decorations that can make any birthday party theme a fanciful adventure.

The key to achieving a beautiful birthday party while still being budget conscious is a party supplier with great deals on already inexpensive decorations, and once you have just a few basics, your imagination and creativity will do the rest.
