An Adult Pirate Party!

Be sure to turn your next adult party into a fun Pirate themed party for everyone! Not including the kids. However, that doesn't mean the adults can dress up like pirates and act like kids for a little while. When throwing your pirate themed party make sure to send out invitations to everyone telling them that this is a costume party, although if you forget you can probably count on a few people coming dressed up on their own.

You can easily provide food and drink fitting for a pirate party. The pirates loved their beer! Food should be rich and hearty. Lots of meats and cheeses. Perhaps you can set up a cold cuts buffet and let everyone make their own sandwiches for the event. Make sure you have plenty of cut bread as these pirate guests of yours will certainly have appetites to match their garb. Order extra of everything.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Pirate themed decorations are only suiting to the event. You can hang up red and black streamers, a skull and crossbones and give out eye patches and plastic hooks as party favors to the guests who happen to arrive without their pirate garb.

Entertainment can be lots of pirate movies and if you don't feel like watching a movie try playing a CD of the movie soundtrack from the recent pirate movie, Curse of the Black Pearl.

Pirates liked their gold too so you can set up a few poker and blackjack games to entertain the guests. If you want to keep the party civil then use chocolate foil covered coins instead of real money in your betting. That way the winners still get a special treat and no one is throwing punches over lost money.

See if you can start up a few rounds of classic sea shanties with the guests and get a real sing-a-round going at the party. If not, don't worry, just go back to your good food, entertainment and poker game!

Noah's Ark Decorations For a Terrific Toddler Birthday Party!

Noah's Ark decorations, so inviting that you'll sail over two-by-two to celebrate. Before you gather the animals and get ready for the flood, check out these Noah's Ark decoration ideas.

If at all possible, hold the party on a boat. This "prop" will immediately set the tone for your Noah's Ark birthday party. If a boat just isn't available, then make a huge ark that covers one of your party room walls. Be sure to add windows to your ark, so you can place a photo of each child attending the party in one of the windows. They will all enjoy seeing themselves "floating" in the ark! Of course, no ark is complete unless you fill it with animals. Attach animal mylar balloons, two of each animal type, to your ark. Finish it off by making wavy blue water from construction paper or cardstock and glue to the ark's bottom. Add a colorful rainbow and a white dove in the sky. Make various Noah's Ark-related signs and hang them on the walls or place them on yard stakes and line the walkway. Have them say things like "Caution, Flooding Ahead", "Welcome to (child's Name)'s Ark", "Animal Crossing", etc. Cut various animal shapes (two of each animal) from craft foam or construction paper, using animal stencils as your guide and hang them from your ceiling with fishing line. Noahs Ark decorations would not be complete without an array of color demonstrated by turning your entire ceiling into a delightful rainbow. Cover it with rows of twisted streamers in all the various colors of the rainbow -- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Accent your rainbow ceiling further and bring the splendor of this theme to life. Add large clusters of balloons with curling ribbons cascading off them in any combination of the rainbow colors at all the corners of the room. Decorate your doorways and archways with streamers by alternating the various colors of the rainbow across the openings. Create "rainbow" placemats by gluing ark-shaped pieces of construction paper in the various rainbow colors onto a solid piece of paper. Laminate for stability. This also makes for a great party favor. Noahs Ark decorations must include a special centerpiece. Cut the top off a clean 1/2 gallon milk carton. Cover it with wrapping paper. Decorate with Noah's Ark stickers, or download pictures of Noah's Ark characters and animals and glue to the sides. Fill with a weighted bouquet of Mylar Noah's Ark balloons and colorful tissue paper, and accent with curling ribbons.

First birthday parties are typically a time for family and friends to get together and see how your baby has grown during his first year. Many moms make this a special party to thank everyone for their love and support during your baby's transition from baby to toddler.

YO GABBA GABBA

Want to really "Wow" the group?  Follow these steps to throw a 1st birthday party that is simply unforgettable! The most important parts of any party are the theme, invitations, decorations, good, games and activities,  and favors. Below is a list of steps to follow to plan your child' very specials 1st Birthday Party.

Theme

With so many special first birthday party themes available, you may have trouble choosing one!  Your theme sets the tone for the party and today's first birthday party patterns are coordinated with just about any accessory you can image you can imagine from party hats to magic wands.

Here's a money saving tip: Order solid paper goods for the adults at the party.  They are considerably less expensive and usually are sold in larger packages.

Invitations

You can easily create your own invitations with pictures you've taken over the course of your baby's first year. Upload your photos  to many online sites where they'll talk you through every step of the way to create your perfect invitation. If designing your own artwork, isn't your thing, not to worry!  There are so many fun, original , and personalized invitations for your baby's first party to choose from.

Decorations

The right decorations turn a good party into a truly, memorable one. Great decorations create a festive atmosphere and are sure to get your guests into the "party mood." Watch your little girl's eyes ligh up when she sees the incredible 45"full color Princess Standees. If she hasn't walked yet, this will make your  little girl to make her stand up and take notice. Just make sure to have your camera ready to catch the delight in her eyes. The photos are fun to include in your thank you cards.

Little boys might enjoy  Lightning McQueen or a favorite Disney character. After the party, you can put the standee in your child's nursery or playroom for a cute accent piece.

A Cowboy theme is great.  Add a Western photo shoot for your guests with a bale of hay in front. Make sure to take pictures of your guests! Put them in some western style photo frames and you have a personal and memorable party favor. When planning a party it's helpful when an item can serve multiple functions and purposes. For just forty dollars or so the photo shoot cutouts serve as a decoration, an activity, and a party favor.  Consider a cowboy hat or bandana as a favor. Be sure to place a step stool behind the photo cut out for the younger (or shorter) kid's and have someone available to help behind the scenes!

Games and Activities

No party is complete without a great assortment of games planned. A baby's first birthday will certainly include your adult family and friends, so make sure that you plan some fun adult activities for them.  We love anything that has to do with music and wiggling, so grab a CD and start them giggling!

Food

The food that you serve at your party should match your theme. If you are having a Cowboy/Cowgirl party include red and white checked tablecloths, with picnic or barbecue fare served in baskets lined with red or blue bandannas. Do you have a little princess that you'd like to honor, then perhaps some simple sandwiches, tea, and yummy desserts arranged on some tiered platters would be appropriate.  Be sure to check with the moms and dads for any food allergies.

If you are also serving adults, we recommend a platter of fruit and something simple.

Favors

When it comes to favors for little ones, we're all very cautious. Be sure that the manufacturer warrants the favor for children 3 and under.  Watch for anything with little pieces or long strings. Usually the best gifts are individual cups, toys, or accessories.

A Few More Tips

Try to keep the party short and simple. Remember this is a day meant for Mom, Dad, and baby to celebrate the coming together of a family. You don't want to overdo it and up with an over stimulated and possibly cranky one-year old. Try to schedule the party around your baby's nap times and if possible, keep it to about 2 hours. But most of all, remember to stay flexible and don't sweat the small stuff. This way you will be sure to enjoy this special day with your child, family, and friends.
