Summertime marks the end of the school year and the beginning of graduation party season. If your child is graduating from high school, consider the following when planning the decorations for the party:
Theme Colors:
PARTY DECORATIONS
Whether you choose your graduate's high school colors or the colors of the college he or she is going to attend, pick one or two main colors to tie your party decorations together. You can then have tablecloths and streamers in these colors, as well as plates, cups, and silverware. You'll probably want to place at least one sign at the entrance to your party to welcome guests, and this is the perfect opportunity to display your theme colors.
Centerpieces:
You want the party to be a true celebration of your child's accomplishments, so why not place pictures of the grad throughout their lifetime on each table? Place each one in a fun and decorative frame. You may even wish to surround each frame with balloons, or confetti. Colorful candy jars also add to table decorations and are a favorite among young guests. They also make great anchors on which to attach balloons. Fill the jars with candy in the new grad's school colors.
Consider edible centerpieces, like cookie bouquets, so that each guest can walk away with a treat. Chocolate lollipops in a vase are another option for yummy favor table decorations. You can make or buy chocolate lollipops in the shape of a graduation cap, scroll, boy or girl graduate. If you choose to make the pops, conduct a search for "graduation candy molds." Some websites that sell molds or chocolate include a guide about how to make the shaped treats. When you are ready to display the pops, use coffee beans or jelly beans in your glass vase or container to keep them in place.
A Photo Collection:
Include a table or wall hangings of the graduate's honors, whether they are in sports or academics. Also set out photo albums that show just how far your child has come. You may wish to include a pen with one of the albums so that partygoers can write an individualized message to the new graduate. Finally, consider creating a large collage, whether framed or on poster board, of your child will all his or her high school friends.
Favors:
If you purchase colorful, graduation theme favors, they can also double as table decorations. Decorative favors include personalized glassware filled with candy, snow globes with the graduate's photo, photo mint tins, stuffed animals, and candles.
